Default Drought hits Central & South East England

Incredibly, even though it is still February/winter, large parts of South East and Central England are afflicted by drought, with the river Kennet, west of Marlborough, completely drying up...

On the edge of my field there is a disused track called "Watery Lane" so called because there was a spring so water continually flowed down the lane into a brook which fed the village pond.
No spring, no brook no pond at the moment. All dry but still muddy so if you walk across you go knee deep into the mud but there is just no surface water.
I've never known it so dry this time of the year in fact in the 20+years I've lived here the stream has always been flowing even in the driest of summers.
It must be partly due to ground water levels getting lower as well as just the lack of serious amounts of rain.

I know how y'all feel. Central Texas has been in a long drought. We are having a very mild winter. I mean very mild spring like temperatures. I like that part, but very little rain. We recently got about 2 inches of rain, but that did very little to the lake/river that is out reservoir. One nearby town has completely run out of water, and has to truck in $200 dollars worth per day. Imagine how much their homes are worth now.
