Question TCM Eczema medicine help

Hi I recently tried TCM through a practioner out of desparation for a possible treatment or cure for my 16 month old son who suffers fro Aptomic Eczema.

I was given the following medicines to try for a month. It has been exactly a week since I tried them out and they seem to be working.

Just wondering what these medicines contain and if these medcines safe and if so are available to purchase at a pharmacy equivalant?

Hi Grover, welcome to the forums.

The first one has mixed reviews, its predecessor was banned in China because it contained clobetasol propionate. Not sure if the improved version is safe, but I would stop using it.

The second one should be safe, although I don't know the specific product in the image. Indigowoad Root (Ban Lan Gen) is very popular in China.

Indigowoad Root is a traditional Chinese medicine herb that comes from the roots of woad, but often incorrectly listed under the synonymic name, Isatis indigotica. It is also known as Radix isatidis. The herb is cultivated in various regions of northern China, namely Hebei, Beijing, Heilongjiang, Henan, Jiangsu, and Gansu. The roots are harvested during the autumn and dried. The dried root is then processed into granules, which are most commonly consumed dissolved in hot water or tea. The product is very popular throughout China, and used to remove toxic heat, soothe sore throat and to treat influenza, measles, mumps, syphilis, or scarlet fever. It is also used for pharyngitis, laryngitis, erysipelas, and carbuncle, and to prevent hepatitis A, epidemic meningitis, cancer and inflammation. Possible minor side effects include allergic reactions and dizziness; only large dosages or long term usage can be toxic to the kidneys. These treatments have not generally been evaluated clinically.

We were able to get rid of my grandsons eczema by giving him probiotics... I had read an article that someone posted about adults who have eczema were short on probiotics when they were children....Basically the article said that if a child doesnt have enough of the good bacteria in their stomach, that they would likely end up with eczema.... Grandson was born with eczema (from what we were told, most tar babies are) the medicine the hospital wanted them to use had enough warnings to choke a horse.... So when I read the article, we jumped on it.... Started him on probiotics that we got from the health food store, made specifically for babies. At four years old, he has no signs of eczema. I have no idea where the article is, I think I posted a link to it on this site somewhere, but I wouldnt know where to look.... it might be worth a shot to try...cant hurt

You could get more info from the book "The Probiotic Solution" written by Dr. Mark A. Brudnak.
