Default diarrhea after a trip

I was recently in Peru for two weeks and I'm the kind of person who likes to try everything, even though I know I shouldn't. Well, one night I suffered the price with horrible diarrhea that i was running to the toliet every few hours one night.
The next morning I took some imodium ad from the local pharmacy and everything seemed to clear up and I didn't have any issues at all from the trip.

A week later I'm back in the USA and I ate lunch at a vietnamese resturant I've been to a dozen times and had their soup. Then that night I ate the samething my family ate, but by 8pm I had to run to the bathroom, because I had diarrhea and instantly afterwords I had to throw up. I threw up for probably an hour and I couldn't sleep the entire night because I felt my stomach bubbling up or as if something was heavy on my stomach. I took imodium AD again at around 3am and felt much better, but I still am not 100%.

Any suggestions on things I can do to get rid of this? I've been trying to eat more rice/bread than usual and I'm not sure what else to do.

Grape fruit seed extract and oregano oil as for the giardia treatment. It may not be giardia that you have but this should probably do it. If you do the protocol and it does not work, then thats the time to go to the doc. Practice excellent hand washing and food prep. It may be contagious. If you go to the doctor I assure you they will prescribe a weeks worth of Cipro

Giardia

Giardia is a very difficult and uncomfortable disease caused by the protozoa Giardia L. It is found in rivers, streams and creeks all across the US but is most prevalent in the Rocky Mountain areas. Pets and humans get it from drinking contaminated water and it can be passed from person to person if hygiene is poor. All river and stream water must be purified for safety. Sodium Chlorite is effective as well as Lugol’s iodine. I would not trust a carbon filtration system to get it all. The disease causes gas, bloating, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Conventional medical treatment is Flagyl but many people do not tolerate this drug well and it is also known to not be fully effective at times.

This first giardia protocol comes from a naturopath in the Salt Lake City area.

Six weeks course of treatment is required.
Oil of oregano 3 drops 4x day
Grapefruit Seed Extract 8 drops 4x day
Put the oil and GSE into a 00 capsule together to take.

Follow this treatment with Primal Defense (or probiotics of choice) 6 pills twice a day for two weeks then gradually taper down to daily-recommended dosage. No matter what treatment you select you should follow with a probiotic.

Another exceptional probiotic is called VSL#3 Lactic Acid Bacteria Probiotic. It is reported to be a highly effective supplement that people with severe gut deterioration like crohn’s disease use. It has been tested in controlled clinical trials to be effective and is more effective at actually creating a colonization of the beneficial bacteria.

Other treatment options are:

Take raw coconut oil, one tablespoon in the am and one in the pm during acute illness then reduce down to one time a day. Coconut oil has the reputation for making the gut environment difficult for parasites to live in. Most importantly, it will facilitate the healing of the intestinal walls that gets damaged from the giardia cyst. I would combine this treatment with the above herbal protocol.

Another treatment is Lugol’s iodine. 10 drops of 5% solution in water or juice 4 x day until symptoms are gone for several days. Treat for at least 10 days minimum.

I make protein shakes in the moring. I'm thinking one tablespoon of the coconut oil added would be an easy way to take it as well?
I believe I have virgin uncompressed coconut oil at my house right now

yes, but I would also do the other protocols as well. I personally would not rely on coconut oil alone. You could have some nasty stuff and you want to get rid of it.

Even though I've gone days without any symptoms? The reason I thought I'd do the coconut oil is that most of the supplements I get I order online and I have coconut oil already at my house, so thought that would be an easy one to start taking.

I've never taken coconut oil myself, but certain times of the year I give it to my dogs.

Coconut oil is an antibiotic, anti-fungal, antiviral. But still, you probably could not take enough to affect a health crisis. Great for daily maintenance. So take the coconut oil and build up your good flora as well.
