Default Urine gets super concentrated if i dont drink water all day

Hey guys.. havent been here in a little while..

For the past few months along with other symptoms (dryness/dehydration)

My urine is way more concentated and my mouth feels a bit more dry then normal usually.. if i dont drink water for a few hours my pee gets super dark yellow.. i have to be drinking all day to keep my pee lookin healthy.

I dont remember it always being this way, it seems to get concentrated really quickly now.

Is this tied in with adrenal fatigue? I heard that if your pee is really concentrated like that it stresses out your kidneys is that true? Are my kidneys being damaged? Will drinking lots of water to keep the pee from being too concentrated help my kidneys?

It also seems like the super concentrated pee irritates my urethra a bit as well.

Well it certainly sound like drinking water would be of benefit to you. Most mammals need water and since you are a mammal I would suggest that you drink, especially when you see such obvious signs. Pour out 2 quarts in the morning and dont go to bed until it is gone. You can use some of it to make tea etc.

Yea i mean, I know i gotta drink water.. but what accounts for the change.. where its like seems i am dehydrated all the time no matter what.. i get dehydrated real easily.. didnt use to be like that.. some kind of hormonal/adrenal/kidney thing..

Guess i should stop thinking too hard and just up my water intake..

Vitamin B also makes urine bright yellow, so if you are taking a multivitamin or something else with lots of vitamin B, you can get the same result.

That does not explain a dry mouth, but you may have more than one reason for the color.

I've found using Urine Test Strips
has helped me ensure I always stay properly hydrated.

Quote:
Specific Gravity: The specific gravity test permits the determination of urine specific gravity between 1.000 and 1.030. In general, it correlates within 0.005 with values obtained with the refractive index method. For increased accuracy, 0.005 maybe added to readings from urine with pH equal to or greater than 6.5. Elevated specific gravity readings may be obtained in the presence of moderate quantities (1‑7.5 g/L) of protein. The specific gravity of urine is a measurement of the density of urine; the relative proportions of dissolved solids in relationship to the total volume of the specimen. It reflects how concentrated or diluted a sample may be. Water has a specific gravity of 1.000. Urine will always have a value greater than 1.000 depending upon the amount of dissolved substances (salts, minerals, etc.) that may be present. Very dilute urine has a low specific gravity value and very concentrated urine has a high value. Specific gravity measures the ability of the kidneys to concentrate or dilute urine depending on fluctuating conditions. Normal range 1.005 - 1.030, average range 1.010 - 1.025. Low specific gravity is associated with conditions like diabetes insipidus, excessive water intake, diuretic use or chronic renal failure.
I get mine off EBAY.

^Aww that is so awesome!! I didn't know you could buy those off E bay!!!!! That just totally made my day!! I am such a geek when it comes to those types of things. I buy all sorts of those medical supplies just for the fun of it all the time. I used the urine test strips when I was going to school. They're really easy to use. You just dip it in your pee and every 5 to 10 seconds you have to match the color of a square on the stick to a shade on the bottle. It's fun

Yes if the SG pad is dark green or even greenish it's going to tell you the bright yellow colour has absolutely nothing to do with your level of hydration but is probably related to the amount of vitamin B you are taking in excess of your body's needs. But that is not a problem it's what is supposed to happen.

@ Kelly Thundercloud
For these test strips the time is between 30 seconds and 2mins so not quite so speedy.
I'm in the UK and the ones illustrated are the same as those used in our NHS They do post to the USA but you may find EBAY USA Amazon comes up with cheaper options. The only reason I mentioned EBAY was I'd asked at my local pharmacy for Urine Test Strips and the price quoted was 3 times what I paid on EBAY. There is a big difference between less than 15p a test and 45p a time.

kidneys are nothing to fool with. See a doctor, a real one. They are sometimes useful. Testing your urine is a very good idea. My wife was thirsty all the time for weeks and finally figured out it was type one diabetes. That was in 1973, that got us interested in alternative medicine. Is there any tiredness associated with the thirst? Probably by now you have figured out what it is. Hope it was something inconsequential.

P.S Jennifer is still doing very well with none of the diabetes side effects. It is the insulin dependent kind. She still works full time too as an OB nurse. Lot's of Life Extension and Swanson vitamins, whole foods, meditation and exercise. Her endocrinologist just shakes his head she is doing so well.

i first thing i thought when i read what is happening to you was either you consumed some type of poison or something in a small enough dose to not induce sickness (such as niacin or something) but large enough to have your body trying to push it all out or that your exerting more effort and causing your body to work harder.
but i doubt if your body was detoxing itself it would last more than a few weeks.
if you are working harder or possibly consuming more caffeine or anything to make your body work harder im sure you would notice this is whats happening though...go to a doctor and have them run urine test and what not.

The general rule of thumb is that your pee should look pale yellow. If it is a dark yellow, that is a sign that you aren't drinking enough water. You can gauge things by how it looks. If it is colorless, that means you are getting more than plenty the amount of water that you need.

If you are dehydrated, you will still feel thirsty after drinking water. Pinch and twist a bit of the skin on your arm, to test for proper hydration. If the skin snaps immediately back as it should be, you are properly hydrated. If the skin takes any time whatsover to go back into place, you are lacking water.

Only severe long term dehydration causes the skin to "tent"
Short term dehydration is marked only by still being thirsty after drinking.
