Default poison ivy on eyelids

Ok, so I did it...wasnt thinking, but that dern poison ivy is crawling all over the side of my house....So yesterday, I grabbed one of the heavier vines and just started pulling it off the house...Wouldnt you know it, a branch came back and hit me in the face, across my eyes and one of my ears.... I have a few splotches of poison ivy on my arms and leg, but they arent bothering me too bad (yet?!) But my eyes started itching bad last night, they are all swollen today and itch like crazy. I tried to wipe all the spots including my eyelids with hydrogen peroxide, but was a bit nervous around the eyes... Is it safe to use on the eyelids? Would collodial silver help my eyes? And wouldnt you know, my impatience plant died during the freeze... I would normally use bleach water to kill the poison ivy, but not around the eyes... any suggestions?????

So after I get the poison ivy yesterday, I got stung by a wasp last night, and then got bit by at least three yellow jackets today.... thinking I might have to take some benedryl.... my hand that the yellow jackets got, is beginning to swell and get a bit stiff.... anything else besides benedryl and ice???
its been a great week so far!!!! On the good side of all that, we got all 13 of the fruit trees planted, 4 grape vines planted and 17 bushes that will create a privacy fence planted... oh and two blueberry bushes are planted too!!!!!

I feel for you! I know it's not safe to work around it because somehow you end up touching it! My husband is not sensitive and has to wash the tools so I don't get it from the tools. Check this out--he gave me a back and neck massage and I got it from his hands which he had washed multiple times since handling poison ivy DAYS before!

I read that collodial silver will help poison ivy around and IN the eyes. Also, you can mix collodial silver and aloe and use it safely around the eyes.

I recommend deep mediation for poison ivy. Do not use steroids... it can become chronic with steroid use.

Homeopathic remedy Rhus Tox sometimes helps, or graphite in 30, frequent doses

Fels Naphta soap is meant to be very good for itchies...

I don't know how "natural" it is, but I hear it gives great results.

Alternatively, move to the city, concrete jungle, where we don't have poison ivy

Hope you feel better soon!

Hydrogen Peroxide shouldn't be used around the eyes, it will definitely irritate and possibly damage eye tissue. Congrats on getting all those trees, vines and bushes planted. I know that was a really big job, but you'll reap the rewards for years to come!

thanks for all the help everyone...Arrow is prednisone a steroid? The kids made me call my doctor yesterday, because my eye is practically swollen shut... my face is pretty bad...I went shopping yesterday, and got alot of doubletakes!!! YIKES!!! My right eye is still swollen and my left ear is so swollen that its hard, and I am feeling pain down the side of my throat under that ear....like you would if you had an ear ache....my biggest concerns were can you get blood poisoning from this, and can the swelling in the ear/glands cause stroke or any other issues.... I will continue using the collodial, and try to get to the health food store to get those homeopathics....
Marilyn, I would rather live with the poison ivy and all the other bad things in the country, then to ever live in the city...I couldnt do it, it would drive me insane!!!
u&iraok, it use to be, that I didnt have problems with it, I could pull tons of it out of trees and yards and never have any problems, but now, when I touch it, its a sever reaction.... I started itching within minutes this time, and my eyes started swelling within a couple of hours...I wish I knew what I did to cause me to start having problems with!!
K2C thanks, we had a really good rain yesterday, so my trees loved that... I went out back to check on them after the rain, and they all looked so happy!!!

I'm guessing you took a shower, washed your hair because if any oil from the vine got on your hair, it's on your pillow now too.

When I was a youngster it seemed like I could catch poisen ivy I walked by the plant on a moist day & the wind blew. If the rash got itchy (this is how insane the itching makes ya ) I'd run that area under the hottest water, then immediately put an ice cube on it. Ice could be used around your eye area.

Every year in Feb, when it was thought poisen ivy is dormant, I'd get a shot a week for 4 weeks. It did help. I'd still catch it, but not as often.

Your throat issue has me concerned & I'd probably see a doctor.
