Question COLD SYMPTOMS (2 MONTHS NOW)

My daughter(2) is 100% vax free, no antibiotics, we do as much organic as is avail, I limit toxins only buying high quality products such as soaps, toothpastes, lotions, detergents etc. We do high quality supplements( vitamin D, multi, vitamin C, a RAW food probiotic)and see a chiropractor. For the past year on and off she gets this "cold", congested nose, wet mucusy cough. This lasts at least 4 weeks but this time around it has been about 2 months. I took her to a nautropathic Dr and he noticed fluid in her lungs. He prescribed 3 remedies, sambucus, calcium carbonate and pulsatilla( this was almost 2 weeks ago). My mother in law thinks it's allergies which I'm in denial about because of her healthy lifestyle but for her sake we took my daughter to an allergen specialist, they noticed an ear infection and post nasil drip. They ordered a complete blood test and an allergy test. The CBC came back fine but Im still waiting on the allergy results. Her cough is NOT getting any better. Im so stressed out over it.
I just wanted to know your thoughts, if any. Thank you

Have you had your home professionally examined for molds?

This Horehound Blend by Herbs for Kids seems like it has good herbs that would clear the lungs of mucus. Here it is sold by Vitacost...https://www.vitacost.com/Herbs-For-Kids-Horehound-Blend
Horehound helps to expel phlegm from the respiratory bronchial system.

Also in the blend is Oregon Grape, another herb that is good as an expectorant. Here's a bit more info on it...

What I'm really wondering about is the Calcium Carbonate that was recommended. To my knowledge, that's not even good for adults to take. The carbonate form of calcium is not well absorbed in the system. It's the main ingredient in the OTC antacid chewables Tums...not a good thing.

You're welcome emilymarie82, glad you're here with us!
Good luck with your little one, great to hear that she doesn't have allergies. Research the calcium carbonate, I may be wrong, but I think it's a bad idea.

I took her in to her pedi today as a follow up on the blood tests. She claims it might be one of the following

walking phenomia(she perscribed antibiotics)
reg phenomia (she ordered a chest x-ray)
whooping cough(she ordered a nose swab)
inflamation of the lungs(she perscribed TWO inhalents)

I didnt fill any prescriptions, or tests (besides the WC nose swab). So, what should I do? Im not one to jump on any RX they perscribe because "it could be this, or that". Should I wait it out? Her cough is pretty cronic but I feel like subjecting her body to antibiotics, radiation, and steroids ISNT THE ANSWER.

Hopefully some of the knowledgeable folks here can give some recommendations. I don\'t like the idea of antibiotics, unnecessary x-rays or vaccines (for whooping cough), they\'re always trying to push that on patients young and old.

I hesitate to give advice because she\'s so young, and I\'m far from being an expert. For an adult I would say to use colloidal silver with a nebulizer for pneumonia, lung infection, congestion. I have both on hand, but haven\'t ever had to use them for myself. Here\'s a couple of threads you may want to look at.

Its very difficult for a child this age because you have to find a product that she is willing to take or can take.

What she has sounds viral to me. I would get her some lipsomal vitamin c.
You can now find it in liquid form if you do a search. www.liveonlabs.com has it in pill form. I have no idea what the liquid tastes like but surely not too good. Can you get her to take that? It will bring her blood levels of C way up, just as if she had an IV infusion of c.

She probably needs vitamin D3 supplements. 1000 IU a day for each 25 pounds of weight... 2,000 IU a day if she is 25 pounds, during acute illness, but not for longer than a week.

Olive leaf extract is another choice. Will she swallow a pill?

Castor oil packs for the chest. You will learn all you need to know here:
https://www.healthsalon.org/41/castor-oil-packs/

That calcium carbonate... was that a homoepathic preparation? Is she constipated? sweaty? fat? nervous? dull in appearance of late?

If her ears hurt put full strenght 3% H202 from the drug store in them and let it stay there until it stops fizzing.. on ear at a time. make a game out of it. You can do it a couple times a day. You do it with her so she wont be afraid. It can be quite noisy and might hurt her a little if her ears truly are infected... most likely just congested with some fluid behind the ear drum is my guess.

Too bad the pullsatilla didn't work. Homeopathy is what I used on my kids and it always worked... so for her it still could work IF the right remedy is selected.

I know that someone here will probably come and hit me on the head for saying this but a little bit of pseudoephedrine decongestant may be helpful. I will tell you this, as I have had allergies and lots of sinus issues in the past... keeping the sinuses dry will help prevent bacterial infection and ear infection. I would not give more than one dose a day, probably at night if she is having a hard time sleeping due to congestion. If you decide to try this look up dosages for kids her age. Make sure its the right thing, you have to get it from behind the counter at the drug store and sign for it... I have seen pseudoephedrine clear up quote ear infections unquote, all by itself.

a humidifer is sometimes helpful.

vicks vapo rub is sometimes helpful but dont use it if you are using homeopathy. .. menthol you know is not good with homeopathy.

She obviously needs her immune system boosted. Vitamim d3 and c will do that.. but perhaps something else... for her age I will have to think on it. Whey comes to mind off hand. Jarrow whey daily.

My son had a terrible cough at about the age of 3 or so. I thought he had whooping cough.. but it wasn't. could have fooled me. anyway.. he got over it with no help from the doctor... or me for that matter... I didn't know too much back then. Kids will have lots of fevers and coughs up until around the age of 6 or 7 and its almost always viral so no antibiotics... By then their immune system is better trained.

let us know how it goes and what you decided to do

Vicks on the soles of her feet then put socks on, when going to bed, might be helpfull for the cough.

Doris Rapp wrote a book called, "Is This Your Child" and in it she tries to help people with allergies and health issues. Your test results came back negative regarding allergies but I remember one thing Doris always asks when working with a mom who has a child with health issues. She asks "what is new within the last 6 months before the issues presented themselves." What she found was there was new furniture or school began or something that was exposing the child to a hidden irritant. Certainly a new food or product may be the culprit as well. There were people who moved into a brand new home before the reactions manifested. Can you think of anything like that?

BTW, my daughter who is 4.5 years old developed congestion. The day prior I allowed her to drink lemon juice in her water. She loved it and drank a lot. She had it for two days then the congestion arrived. I stopped the lemon water and it cleared up in two days. If I continued to expose her to the lemon juice her symptoms would have escalated to other things.

Default When I had the grandkids for two months

we ran into issues from taking them to the hospital.

I gave 1 tsp Ambrotose and probiotic. If the fever went too high, I would give small tylonol and but in tub.

Same with her brother who was 5 at the time.

My son's oldest is 3 and he has suffered with symptoms of allergies and adding the probiotics worked for them.

Much has come out about the gut flora now.
