Default Bad Posture.. how can I correct it?

Hi guys,

So lately ive been noticing how terrible my posture has become over the years.. I always slouch over.. its become a habit and its very difficult to break. I sit at the computer for a couple hours everyday and I just cant seem to sit with good posture for more then a minute or two before I slouch or lie across my chair with my legs on the desk (distorting my back in a weird way).

I believe this has caused me some health issues from years of doing it.. as it stops the free movement of your diaphragm etc.. just not good at all..

How can I make it comfortable to sit with good posture..

I bought something called a NADA chair which is cool but I dont know if I could wear it all day.. I think im going to try strengthening my back muscles.. apparently when you slouch so much, after a while your stomach/front muscles contract and stay that way and your back muscles loosen/weaken to compensate for constantly being stretched.

I want a desk chair that I can almost recline on and keep my feet up.. that would be comfortable .. but no one can sit like a robot with perfect posture the way these chairs are designed these days.

I sit on one of those big exercise balls all day at work. I have noticed a drastic improvement in my posture.

Yea? I actually have one sitting right next to me desk lol.. I suppose I should give that a try..

I just worry that it wouldnt be comfortable for very long.. dunno.. seems like my body gets stiff pretty quickly if I dont keep moving.. (maybe more so then a normal person) .. just makes it hard to sit in one position for very long..

I want to invent a reclining chair, with foot rests, and a bolster for your lower back to keep you in good posture even as you recline a bit.. that would be ideal for me.. maybe such a chair already exists.. I just need to change my desk around so I can lay back a bit and still access the keyboard.

My thoughts are that the big ball strengthens the lower back. I find it very comfortable, much more than a conventional chair. I started to use it for a few hours a day to improve my core strength for horse back riding. Then I noticed that my posture was getting better--kinda like a positive side effect

And I think that it is good for abdominal muscles. I have also read on the internet that you burn more calories throughout the day if you sit on one as opposed to a chair.

I started for a few hours but would switch back to my normal chair for lunch. Now I just use it all the time. But when I'm feeling lazy I often don't want to use it but I force myself to.

I think that the best way to use it is to sit with your legs on either side of the ball rather than in front for easier balance.
