Question Iodine Tincture for Thyroid tummy testing!

A friend of mine recently told me that the FDA is banning any
future selling of Iodine Tincture which alot of people use to do
tummy patch painting tests to see if they're Iodine deficient.
According to my friend, Iodine Supplements that are not FDA
approved like Big Pharma's Synthroid and Levoxyl are to have
the same fate. The Iodine Tincture is supposedly banned from
even being made.
Would anyone know how to find out if this info is true? I did
find 4 bottles of the Iodine Tincture at my Walgreen's Drug
Store yesterday, so I bought all 4, just in case.
What used to cost $1.29 per bottle, now costs $2.99 per bottle.
Walgreen's brand.
Thanks for any info or comments on this!

The tincture is not banned. It has an alcohol in it that makes it toxic for internal use. The FDA banned the sale of iodine; due to its use in the manufacture of meth. Same for pseudoephedrine, which you now have to sign for at the pharmacy.

Iodine can still be sold in 1 ounce quantity as the Lugol's formula at iodine (7%) combined with potassium iodide (10%). The 2% solution can be sold at any amount. Useless in my opinion. Iodoral tablet can be sold in any quantity; since it would be too expensive for the meth makers to extract the iodine.
