Default Citricidal, Not Grapefruit Seed Extract Kills Bacteria

https://www.livestrong.com/article/50...st-infections/

I've read this on several websites. That grapefruit seed extract does not kill bacteria, rather the chemicals added to it do.

When tested by itself, with no added chemicals, they say grapefruit seed extract doesn't kill microbials.

Manufacturers add benzethonium chloride to it, which the benzethonium chloride kills the microbials.

Is this true?

I hope it's not chemicals added that do the trick! I've been using NutriBiotic mouthwash and nasal spray for years, although not to actually cure anyillness. The nasal spray clears my sinuses without being habit forming and I think the mouthwash helps keep my mouth healthier. The MouthFresh mouthwash lists its ingredients as: purified water, glycerine, citricidal grapefruit seed extract, witch hazel, aloe vera, stevia extract, zinc gluconate, peppermint oil, methol, polysorbate-20, and PEG-40 castor oil.

I know with some products, the manufacturer doesn't have to list ingredients used on other ingredients. Like hexane used on rapeseed oil (canola oil).

I believe they use a solvent to recover olive oil on the 'non-virgin' secondary press. They then distill, with heat, the solvent back out of the product.

I'm not intending this to be an endorsement of canola oil, but just a parallel to other recovery methods on food processing.

Yeah, I don't want to eat oil that someone treated with solvent.
And, now, I don't want to use gradefruit seed extract, if its all treated with this benzene stuff.

Have you ever tasted an olive directly from the tree? I did. Lived to regret it. I can't imagine how the first person figured out how to make it edible. All parts are highly processed, except maybe the leaf extract. On the other hand, the word extract means processed.

Product page from Higher Nature (England)

https://www.highernature.co.uk/Products/Citricidal

Note it's their all-time best seller. This from a company that sell MVs, vitamin C, vitamin D, the works!

Not seen GSE mentioned in the papers here. It has spread largely by word of mouth.

I swear by it.

(Check the 'Ingredients' label....)
