It may. It clearly oxidizes iodine. Ascorbic acid is what I use to remove iodine stains from fabrics.

Good that your dog was fine, k2c - so many dogs dies of snakebites in Australia, people who live in remote areas keep anti-venom and liquid vit c in their fridges for emergencies.

They give the vit c via IV also...

I suppose you could give the animal mms by IV if you had to?

They do in fact use ascorbic acid in poison control.

Also does anyone use something to reduce acidity? I've used baking soda but would like something else without all the sodium.
And anyone using lysine with C to reverse the plaques? Really excellent story on that from VIt C Foundation (book called Practicing Medicine without a license). Pauling was right. Low grade scurvey. Ever wonder why the plaques form around the heart only? They form at high stress areas, due to all the pulsations. So at a "Y" branch for example, the plaque will form at the middle of the Y. This is a high stress area. I know from piping stress analysis! Anyway the plaque is formed by Lp(a) sticky cholesterol lipoprotein a (small a, not A, they are different). Lpa does not respond to drugs. They don't measure it. But it is the one they should. Lysine is exposed when the vessel starts fatiguing. The Lpa stick to lysine. The fatigue is due to poor regeneration ability due to LOW VIT C needed for collagen repair. So you take lysine (and proline too if you want but this is made by the body) in equal amounts. (lysine also stops canker sores). The lysine binds with the lpa and neutralizes it. The Vit C allows healing and reversal of plaques.

This has been proven with guinea pigs, 20 years ago.... ignored basically. Don't want cures, just treatments and drugs.

But remember that Ascorbic acid was used in all the clinical trials, and is used for the IV therapy. I'm sure it is good quality stuff though. I prefer amla, the highest natural source that includes many other benefits.
