Iodine therapy along with topical iodine has flattened my keloid scars after hernia surgery. I suspect that it is the potassium iodide, in the Lugol's, that has been the most help.

I have tried it on an older scar too; but it took a little longer. It took a few months; instead of a month for my newest one.

I have always carried iodine with me while backpacking. 2 drops to any water that I use. That will kill any bacteria.

Jim, if you want to get rid of an old or new scar in jig time, soak a Q-tip in liquid nitrogen or use a small piece of dry ice and apply either to the scar for three to five minutes.
Save the iodine for better use.

I beg your pardon, Jim, it's been so long since I've used it. The time of application stated above should be three to five se seconds and not minutes.

Yes. I got it BigAl. I've used dry ice before, to remove some unwanted moles. Just takes a minute. I'll try that for an old scar that I have. Now, I just have to find liquid nitrogen. If you could direct me to a source, I would appreciate it.

Jim, if you live in or near a big city, you have it made. Liquid nitrogen is a by product of obtaining oxygen from air. Oxygen is in big demand. When I used to get liquid nitrogen I wouldn't go to the front office of the supplier but around back to where it was being transfered and ask a worker to fill my Thermos. I never told them it was for removing scars. Even in a Thermos liquid nitrogen evaporates fast. One is lucky if a full bottle lasts 12 hours.
When push comes to shove iodine is a novel way to remove scars.

Arrow, I just got home, and saw your pm... I found the post where I was telling ya'll about our iodine uses.... I am copying and pasting it here...

Quote:
Arrow, Over a year ago, I came down with a severe case of strep throat. At the time, I didnt realize what I had, and apparently wasnt in my right mind or something... I laid on an air mattress for three days, couldnt eat, could barely drink, running fever, got dizzy when I stood up... just in really bad shape... On the third day I had that duh moment, when I went to a mirror looked at my tongue/throat and saw all the white blisters.. and immediately realized that I had strep. Grabbed the iodine, put five drops in a cup of water, gargled with it, and drank it. within an hour I was actually feeling better... I did the iodine three times a day that day, and again the next day. Went to the doctor the next day, and after chewing me out for taking iodine (thats poison!) told me I just had a virus, and gave me a script for a z pac (which was some type of antibiotic) I didnt even take it.. I was absolutely back to normal within a week. My daughter who is in the military, has to have the flu shot every year (its manditory) then every time within 3 weeks of the shot, she comes down with bronchitus.. This year, she did the iodine trick... five drops in a cup of water, gargle and then drink it all.. She was so worried about getting sick this year, she put five drops in a bottle of water and drank that all day... She did that for about a week, and this is the first year that she didnt get the bronchitis... My grandson's eczema supposedly turned into MRSA last year. Them idiots gave a really nasty antibiotic and a cream to my daughter in law and told her to use it on him (he was less then a year old) I asked my daughter in law to let me try the iodine on him first and lets see what happens... So we gave him CS to drink (sm amounts) and then I painted his sores with the iodine (we have pics of him with orange hair) The mrsa was cleared up within days. When she took him back to the doctor, the doc was surprised that he was healed up so fast. The dil told the doc what I did, and the doc told her she was lucky to have me (which surprised me) In the beginning of march, my girl got this really weird rash on her left arm and her left leg...the rash was so bad, I took her to the emergency room (always things go wrong after hours and on weekends)the doc diagnosed her with pityriasis rosea (rosia) Supposedly a viral thing, nothing will help it, but can last over eight weeks... we are still battleing it, but the first week, I painted her leg with the rash, and it seemed to calm the rash down, the rash got really light, thought it was going away... It still hasnt gone completely away yet, and just last week flared up again... To an extreme like the first time I saw it... again painted it with iodine, and the severity is lessened. But wont take it completely away... tomorrow, Im going to try soaking her in a bath with h2o2 according to this article Doctor Kurt Donsbach Oxygen-hydrogen peroxide therapies Any cold, any sign of sore throat, any sign of feeling bad, and we gargle with the iodine, seems to stop germs dead in their tracks... I dont take it on a daily basis, because I have thyroid problems, but when I am sick, or someone in the family gets sick, thats the first thing we grab.
Our latest incident was just a few days ago.. The daughter in law was set for some minor surgury, but two days before date, she started coming down with a sinus infection, with sore throat and cough.. so she started drinking 3 drops of iodine in a bottle of water, all day for two days (probably two doses each day) by the morning of sugury day, she was well enough for them to go ahead with the surgury. Also, my grandson had poison ivy on his belly.. He decided he needed it gone by the next day because of a ball game, so let me paint it with the iodine. Dried up in an amazing amount of time... Hasnt complained about it since that day. As we keep using it, I keep loving it more and more!!!!

My son has inherited the predisposition to sebaceous cysts. His dad has them and his uncle as well.
He got his first one a few years ago at the age 19. We went to a doctor and she said not to worry and if it got to bothering him she could remove it.

I leared from Dr Jonathan Wright's newsletter that sebaceous cysts can be treated with topical applications of Lugol's iodine. So we tried it and he applied Lugol's directly for a couple of weeks to the 1.5cm cyst that had formed on his neck. He wasn’t very good at keeping up with the therapy. A month or two later we noticed that it was greatly reduced in size so he started working on it again. In a couple of weeks it was gone.

A year later he had a new cyst. This one, also on his neck which was much larger and looked more the size like that his dad and uncle get, a couple of centimeters across. By this time we had learned about MMS and he started to take it. Since he tolerates MMS well he starts out with 15 drops. The cyst started to react to the MMS almost immediatley. It got very swollen and red and sensitive to touch.. At this point he started to apply iodine topically also. He kept up with the MMS but he was not very strict on his daily dosages. The whole process only took a couple of weeks of treatment for the cyst to completely disappear. It has been one year now and no further cysts in the area have come up. He is very glad not to have a scar on his neck.

Default Uterine Fibroids

I found this story on curezone and thought a link here would be a good idea for the treatment of uterine fibroids!

Five months since they pronounced my uterus chock full of fibroids; Could iodine be responsible for this? at Iodine Supplementation Support by VWT Team

About 3 or 4 years ago I found a cyst on my thyroid. It was large enough so that you could see it on my neck if you looked carefully. Concerned, I went to my doctor who worked it up. I had lab work and a sonogram of the thyroid. Two cysts were found in the sonogram, the one I could feel and one further inside that I could not see or feel. My doctor told be that they were benign and not to worry, being that they are fairly common.

I decided to go to a thryoid specialist for a second opinion. He confirmed what she said. He said that they would never go away and if the front one got larger and it bothered me that he could remove it. I didn't like that idea because I tend to keloid scar.

I went home and did some reading. Thats when Dr Jonathan Wright's newsletter about Iodine came to my attention. I started looking into taking lugol's iodine as a supplement and I found lots of studies done on the topic and also found that many doctors recommend iodine supplementation for a number of conditions.

I started taking Lugol's iodine at 6 drops a day but I wasn't fully consistand daily. At one point I treated a bladder infection using 6 drops 3 or 4 times a day successfully. Shortly after that I noticed that the cysct on my neck was much smaller. Sometime in the next 6 months or so it went away completely.....so nmuch for the cyst that "would never go away"!

Since then my primary doctor who practices alternative medicine has started to recommend lugol's iodine. She monitored my thryoid and found its function to be good several times through the early stages of my supplementation with Lugol's.

Default Removing Age Spots with Lugol's Iodine

A couple of weeks ago I came across a testimonial on another forum where a woman claimed that she eliminated common age spots with topical iodine... so I said what the heck lets give it a try.

I have acquired these common age spots on the back of my hads, as did my mother and both grandmothers. I had stray the was more up on my wrist near where a wrist watch is worn. It was the largest on.

So as per this womans instruction I applied topical lugols iodine 3 times a day and just let it dry. On the second day I could see that the age spot had risen up somewhat. I kept applying iodine

On the seconday the age spot that has risen up now looked dried out. I scraped at it and part of it came off. I kept putting the iodine on.

The next day the rest of it scraped off and I put one last application of iodine on. There was then a raw shallow crater.

I started on two other age spots on the back of my hands. One on the left was very small but very dark, almost black looking, so it gave me concerns for other reasons. The one on my right had looks similar to the one on the wrist.

Today about two weeks later there is a faint pink area of new skin and the age spot is gone on the wrist. The other two have scraped off and appear to be healing and the spots appear to be completely gone. The very dark on on the left had did not go without some discomfort. It was much deeper than the others and after I scraped it off my whole hand ached for about a day.

Interesting. Why did it create a shallow crater if age spots are flush with your skin?

Would iodine cause that to occur regardless of whether or not there's an age spot?

I came across this article/adverstisement for Dr Brownsteins newsletter which I have never received. It includes three of his books. It looked like a good deal so I thought I would post the link.

It also has a testimonial of a woman who used iodine to treat her breast cancer and I thought that was interesting. When iodine is used as a medicine for disease very high dosages are required.

It was Dr Brownstiens work that first got me looking at Iodine
