Default Chronic Fatigue caused by Parasite

New Parasite Found In Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFIDS)

Somebody and perhaps indeed it was Jim Humble that posted to HealthSalon but who knows? I have no way to verify. Anyway, they left this link of interest on Chronic Fatigue and suggested that this is why MMS has been so effective for such issues.

New Parasite Found In Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFIDS)

CFS Radio Program Jan. 16th, 2000. Roger G. Mazlen, M.D. Host with Dr. Larry Klapow.

Dr. Mazlen: Dr. Larry Klapow was a guest on this past Sunday's CFS Radio Show and gave a very important and very informative report of the work he has been doing. Dr. Klapow has been finding a new roundworm type of parasite in CFS patients called "Cryptostrongylus pulmoni". I found this show to be of particular interest to me because I have been found to have this particular parasitic infection and was very interested to learn of the immunologic dysfunctions that it can cause. I truly think that this important work definitely plays a part in the complex puzzle that is known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Dr. Mazlen To kick off the new millennium with a good show that you'll find of great interest and great importance, I'm talking today with Dr. Larry Klapow, a Ph.D. in Invertebrate Biology who's in Burlingame, California near San Francisco. Good morning Larry, welcome to our show.

Dr. Klapow Good morning, Roger, I'm glad to be here.

Dr. Mazlen Can you tell our audience something about the this suspected new parasite that you've found in a percentage of patients with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? How'd you find it?

Dr. Klapow Well, Roger, it came about as a result of a conversation I was having with an immunologist friend of mine, Dr. Vincent Marinkovich, here in Redwood City, California. He was treating a CFS patient we thought might have a roundworm infection. The patient had a low grade eosinophilia and some unusual rashes on the torso that suggested the possibility of threadworm disease. Antibody tests and stool tests were negative. I thought about this for a while and I know that some chronic parasites migrate between the digestive tract and the respiratory tract and some of them are coughed up in sputum. So I looked at the sputum and that's where I found it. I called the new parasite "Cryptostrongylus pulmoni", that's a provisional name and it means "the hidden lung worm".

Dr. Mazlen That's pretty appropriate in terms of what you say.

Dr. Klapow It definitely is, Roger. It's very difficult to find. And I hope other people will start looking for it. In fact, I've put together some material that I think can help them.

Dr. Mazlen You recently completed a small blinded study in cooperation with a small number of CFS doctors including Dr. Anthony Komaroff in Harvard. You're now doing a larger blinded trial and you're also trying to develop a clinical test for the parasite. But for these other investigators and clinicians, can you tell us what does the parasite look like and how can they find it?

Dr. Klapow You can identify the parasite, the female by its mouth parts and the male by its very intricate reproductive structure. This parasite is very small. The female is less than a millimeter long and the male is about a third that length. So, in addition to being small there's also a lot of difficulties. The specimens I usually pick up are naturally expelled in sputum and they're usually very decayed and rare and because of this you need very specialized imaging techniques to find them. They're not expensive techniques, they're just specialized. In any case I wanted to help people look for this parasite and so I put together a website which describes how to find it in great detail. It also includes anatomical drawings. I can give you the website address if you like.
Dr. Mazlen Yes, give us the address right now, that'll be great.

Dr. Klapow OK, I'll give you my own email address and then I can post the other rather longer address for people who contact me. My email address is [email protected].

Default Epstein Barr as Cause of Chronic Fatigue

I just want to mention that chronic fatigue is a syndrome, not a specific disease. I wonder about the findings of this article.

Anyway, a few months back someone I know passed a bottle of MMS on to her daughter who had been ill with chronic fatigue for about 2 years. Her quality of life was pretty poor, having no energy for anything. Lab work had revealed that she had two variants of Epstien Barr virus. And of course the doctors did not know what to do about it, except to let her linger in suffering.

The MMS had her well in less than 2 weeks, and she really started to feel improvement in just a couple of days. Now she is fully well.

A good night's sleep protects against parasites

Animal species that sleep for longer do not suffer as much from parasite infestation and have a greater concentration of immune cells in their blood according to a study published in the open-access journal BMC Evolutionary Biology.

The question of why we sleep has long puzzled scientists. Brian Preston from the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig, Germany, led an international team of researchers who tested the theory that sleep improves immune function. He says, "Sleep is a biological enigma. Despite occupying much of an animal's life, and having been scrutinized by numerous experimental studies, there is still no consensus on its function. Similarly, nobody has yet explained why species have evolved such marked variation in their sleep requirements (from 3 to 20 hours a day in mammals).

Our research provides new evidence that sleep plays an important role in protecting animals from parasitic infection."

By comparing reported information about mammalian sleep, immune system parameters, and parasitism the authors show that evolutionary increases in mammalian sleep durations are strongly associated with the number of circulating immune cells. Mammalian species that sleep for longer periods also have substantially reduced levels of parasitic infection. According to Preston, "We suggest that sleep fuels the immune system. While awake, animals must be ready to meet multiple demands on a limited energy supply, including the need to search for food, acquire mates, and provide parental care. When asleep, animals largely avoid these costly activities, and can thus allocate resources to the body's natural defenses."

This research may yet have implications for human health. Preston warns, "Given the declines in human sleep durations that have occurred over the past few decades, there is a clear need for studies that further clarify the immunological significance of sleep."

I'm really wondering if it's environmental stressors such as heavy metals, toxins, EMFs that contribute in a major way toward Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I've read that when the body's pathways are busy trying to detox heavy metals they don't have the resources to fight the organisms like they normally would be able to. And also that EMFs can cause harmful organisms to grow. So I wonder if that's why parasites, mycoplasms, lyme, Epstein Barr, Herpes, etc are found in people with CFS. That it's not one organism that causes CFS but since CFS is a syndrome there are several causes and/or effects (which is which or does it matter?). Immune system and endocrine system, which are also involved with CFS are messed up, too, by toxins and EMFs.

Sleep is messed up in people with CFS, too, so they're not getting the proper rest they need to help them with these issues.

I agree, CFS is a syndrome, not a disease in and of itself. People who have it should be tested for all of the above that you mention so one knows how to proceed in treatment.
One of the most common causes is epstein barr virus which is really a chronic form of mono. MMS will take care of it as well as some of the other stuff you listed.

I took MMS for my CFS and had some good results. It didn't cure the CFS, probably because I have other issues, but I'm thinking maybe it killed whatever pathogens I might have had because I don't feel 'flu' sick anymore and don't catch colds and flu as easily as I used to. I also took Vitamin D around the same time so that might be responsible as well.

It was weird, when I took the MMS I had a swirling feeling on the back of my neck like something was moving around in there. People with CFS often have the back of their neck hurting (myself included) and I thought possibly with lymph nodes somewhere around there (I think?) I was wondering what the MMS was doing.

That is pretty exciting that MMS will cure Epstein Barr. This girl is still fine, cured of it?

Yep, completley well. Her mom checked back with me some months later. My problem then was trying to get them to stop the mms. I really don't think people should be on it for a long time, especially if they are better. Whats the point...
