TCM relies on herbs that act as tonics (ginseng, ginger, fo-ti, gren tea, cordyceps, and a bunch of others). There is no immediate effect and taking once does nothing. You take small effects for extended periods and they work to balance and build as opposed to big pharma compounds which act immediately and harm over time.

What you say is so true, but extremely frustrating. That's what I do. I find something and take it for some relief. The bottle or instructions say that it will work better over a few months. It doesn't, so I find something else after considerable time trial. Decades later, I'm still trying.
