Lightbulb Energy of Reiki

Healing with the hands...Reiki

Quote:
Healing Hands

The energy of reiki regenerates body and soul.

By Susan Weiner
April 2006

Duane Brown first heard about reiki through an acquaintance who spoke about a healing technique that used energy channels to revitalize the body and mind. I understood what she was talking about right away because Id been practicing chi gung for many years, the reiki practitioner now recalls.

Literally translated into rei (spirit) and ki (life force), reiki (pronounced ray-key) involves the circulation of life force energy throughout the body, like chi gung and other healing modalities. It can restore balance and support the bodys natural ability to heal itself, explains William Rand, president of the International Center for Reiki Training in Southfield, Michigan: Its a subtle energy we all have.

Consequently, if someones life force energy is too low, he or she is more prone to illness.

Similar to healing practices like massage, reiki is administered through the laying on of hands. The client is fully clothed and the practitioner (also known as a master), moves his or her hands in patterns across the body, either lightly touching or keeping the hands hovering a few inches away from the recipient; patients may experience a feeling of warmth, a rush of energy, profound relaxation or tingling sensations. The sessions typically last from 45 to 90 minutes and are designed to be deeply relaxing.

This article is too simplistic, and also lacking, in regard to correct information about Reiki. There are three levels of practice. The third level is the master level. Not all Reikii practitioners are Reiki masters. Reiki does not have to be hands on. Many practitioners do distance healing through a telecommunication process. Reiki can cause the situation, known in the philosophy of Eastern healing practice, of healing crisis. A person may temporarily feel more unwell directly after receiving Reiki, as the flow of energy in the body corrects itself and the body and mind adjust. (I have been practicing Reiki at the master level for fourteen years.)

Is Polar Therapy a similar thing as I have had that for a bad back several years ago, and that helped, me at the time.

Yes, Ozzie, polarity therapy has a similar premise as Reiki. Both are used to unblock and/or balance channels of energy flow.

Kind2Creatures, the first time I received a Reiki healing from a practitioner I was dizzy and disoriented as I left her office. I had to sit in my car for awhile before I dared drive. I felt off-kilter all day. The next day I was in a pretty good mood, but had odd aches and pains. The third day I felt good (in harmony).

Many people are prone to crying rather heavily, maybe even sobbing, when energy blocks are released. Releasing blockage causes a chemical process in the body. It is similar to detoxification, things are released into the body which need to be eliminated. Proper hydration after a session of any therapy meant to free up energy blockage is very important. The toxins will be eliminated via the kidneys, liver, etc.--urine, stools and possibly sweating.

Interesting dogwoman, thanks. The only slightly similar experience I've had was after a therapeutic massage one day. Afterwards, I felt a bit out of sorts, and had a mild headache the rest of the day. Back then I wasn't aware of the benefits of hydration, and I doubt that I drank any water at all, either before or after.

1986, Reiki is not Qi Gong. Reiki is a Japanese healing practice.

I believe strongly in Reiki. However, my belief system differs greatly with the two main branches of Reiki. I belong to a maverick, little known, branch of Reiki which refuses to link money with Reiki. We teach and practice Reiki without monetary compensation. To be taught and receive attunement to the master level, I agreed to give a gift of three Reiki healings on a daily basis. I have done a pretty good job of maintaining my agreement, though I do forget to practice Reiki on occasional days. My practice is primarily based upon Reiki telecommunication.

I invoke Reiki to intervene for the highest good in regard to the genetic modification and manipulation of seeds and life forms. I invoke Reiki to guide world leaders, political leaders and religious leaders to right and moral action. I invoke Reiki to guide the people of the world to the concept of stewardship of all life forms on Earth, including stewardship of the planet itself. I invoke Reiki to heal myself, certain people who have asked for Reiki, and my pets.

At some point the original group of Reiki teachers, the Usui practitioners, decided that the practice of Reiki wasn't being properly valued. Many people who were taught the practice weren't using it often. The Usui people adopted the concept that if people paid large sums of money to learn Reiki and be attuned to the practice of Reiki, people would use and value Reiki more. Thus, Reiki has become an expensive form of adjunct, or alternative, healing.

I consider Reiki to be the same thing as the laying on of hands done by Jesus Christ. I believe that Jesus traveled extensively in India and Asia during the so-called lost years, learning and teaching healing practices. I think we all have the power/the energy to assist ourselves and others in healing. We need to believe, we need to develop the skill, and we need to practice.

Thank you dogwoman for your explanation, I mean't to say polarity Therapy but couldn't quite remember the name of it.

Thank you also for being the kind person you are and not expecting money for treatment, its a pity there weren't more people like you.
