Default Evening Primrose oil - omega 6?

Evening Primrose oil is promoted as a great source of GLA (omega 6 fatty acid). I wasn't interested in it as I get enough omega 6's from nuts and seeds but it also claims to help woman produce estrogen and I'm low in estrogen so I'm newly interested in this product.

I'm confused. Is it needed and helpful for woman who want to increase their estrogen?

Some say it is difficult for the body to convert omega 6 into GLA specifically so it's best to get it in supplement form. I don't know if I'm wasting my money by taking this supplement or if it really is beneficial.

I purchased some and it is so gross. It's like eating motor oil or something non-edible.

The good thing about Evening Primrose oil is that it balances hormones. Women use it for PMS and Menopause. As regards omega 6, the GLA in Evening Primrose oil is anti-inflammatory and some researchers and health experts are putting more emphasis on the importance of fatty acids, not just whether they are omega 3s, 6s, 7s or 9s. EPO is made up of several different fatty acids. A lot of women were shown to be very deficient in GLA and EPO contains one of the highest levels of GLA.
