Default sleepy

I have a problem trying to stay awake in the evenings, sometimes falling asleep at 7pm trying to watch favorite shows on telly,it makes me mad as i always wake up when all the good stuff has finished.
I get up between 5-30 and 6 am in the mornings, and generally feel good during the day.
I was wondering if any one else has the same problem, and if you think that I may be lacking in something.
I have had this problem a good number of years when I was working I use to have to get up early to go to work, a Dr once said it was because I get up so early.
Is it a problem that women have?

I've never had a problem falling asleep in front of the TV, unless I'm watching it in bed and it's after 11PM, when I should be sleeping already .

I think that waking up at 6AM is fine, as long as you go to bed at a respectable time and sleep soundly. I think that a 10:00pm bedtime would be the latest, giving you a full eight hours of sleep . From everything I've heard, less than 8 hrs. is not good and 9 or 10 is even better.

I recommend taking a B-complex vitamin daily, I think it helps with overall health and energy. I don't see where this would be a problem specifically for women.

Thanks K2c yes I think I will get on to a B complex and see how that goes, I was taking a multi vitamin a while back, but stopped taking them for a while.

I think sometimes our bodies have a way of telling us what is needed to sustain our health. Waking up early if we're going to sleep early and having a restful sleep is normal and healthy. If we stay up late and wake early, not getting enough hours for our bodies and minds to rest, then there are problems which will appear to us in various ways.

Thanks K2c, I feel that I'm getting enough sleep, but hubby seems to be able to stay awake a lot longer even though we both get up at the same time,I think hubby thinks I'm not much company, falling asleep so early.
I think you are right though our bodies tell us what we need. Iv'e heard it said that the older we get the less sleep we need, I wonder how true that is.

I've heard that too, but I don't believe that it's true. Maybe some older people need less sleep only because they tend to take naps during the day. I think we all need a good night's sleep, 8+ hours. Our bodies and minds need to rest and rejuvenate for ideal health, makes sense to me.

Look for a B100 complex as made by Twin Labs. Take it at noon time, you may stay awake a little longer.... or possibly you need a nap in the after noon? Sometimes napping for an hour gives you what you need to put in another 7 or so. I like to nap from 2 to 3, then I can put in another shift of living till around 10 or 11.

Isn't that a good thing? I really enjoy falling asleep at 7 or 8 pm and get up early, it feels GREAT.

Arrowwind I shall have a look for that B100 complex, thanks for that.
Matrix I love getting up early too but just wish I could stay awake a little longer at night, but I will just have to have a nap during the day and see if that helps, its good to know Im not the only one then

Question

Ozzie, as a 75 yr old female, it's a case of NOT getting enough sleep for me.
I get less exercise than I used to for one thing. Also, I wake up for 2 potty trips during the night.
Sometime I can go back to sleep after the 4am trip, sometimes not. If I do go back to sleep, the next
wake up is usually between 7 & 8 am, when I get up for good. I rarely take a daytime nap. I don't
think being a female has anything to do with your situation.
Are you getting/taking enough Vit D3?

Question

Ozzie, another thing I thought about after I got off is about what you've eaten for dinner?
Sounds like what used to happen to me before I found out I had Diabetes.
Eating too many carbs for dinner or too big a meal can make you sleepy. For example, eating potatoes,
corn, & bread/rolls or breaded fish, hush puppies, etc. will do it.
You might want to have your blood sugar checked.

Earlybird I think you could be right about what I may be eating before I go to bed,as its not every night I fall asleep early, but most nights. I am a diet controlled Diabetic, as well, and check my blood sugar every now and again in the mornings, as I have a blood sugar monitor . I do find that if I eat anything with garlic or onions in it that will make me sleepy,
Thanks for your sugestions I will make note of what I eat for the evening meal, and see if it corresponds with me being sleepy.

No I haven't Mike, maybe I should, thanks for that.
I'm thinking it could have something to do with the Diabetes though.
