I knew a guy that was happy about his anti-depressants too, prozac, wellbutrin, etc. But his happiness was like a roller coaster, super happy to super depressed sometimes within hours, then another dosing adjustment or change of meds by his doctor, over and over.

She (the gal on my FB page) is trying to legitimize it. I know someone else who was on zoloft for 10 yrs and they switched her meds last yr after the zoloft started losing its effect. If you go into depression for life's downs, while ignoring life's ups, you do have issues.

What has happened to us as a nation and as a society that such a substantial percentage of our citizens, on both sides of the Atlantic, have to be smacked out of their heads on tranquillizers just to make it through the day...

And some of these people seem to be doing so much better than me in the area of motivation and energy. Actually in generally good health. My best buddy has 4 mainstream doctors and an allergist. He takes numerous pharm pills per day. He is hyperactive. Over 70. He thinks he is very healthy, and to me, he appears to be.

I knew another man, elderly, that we could not stand to be around, unless he took some pill that made him more passive. Otherwise he was way too abusive, impatient, and loud.

Ah! A better world through chemicals.

Cannot argue some aspects of that and some psyche meds work to an extent, but I do think there are natural alternatives in many cases. Classic story: In grad school, I am walking out of the apartment complex and these super good looking babe is walking in with two grocey bags. I asked if she needed help and she said yes, thank you. When we arrived at her door, she asked me to com in for a glass of wine. I am thinking less morally at the time and I sit on her couch, she hands me a glass of wine as she sits down next to me. Then she starts crying and saying how she is manic depressive. I left within a few minutes and ran into the apt manager a couple days later and asked about this lady and she said she was a big time mental case.

The easy way out. I suppose it is better than drowning it out with alcohol. That's the way we used to do it.

Default Our new socialist dictatorship

That our republic was torn to shreds around 3 years back is without
doubt. It came about through a plethora of entitlements that
led to the current idiocracy. the good 'ol USofA started to slip away
fast a century or so back. Our 'hot-house' population started to
permiate basic governmental behavior 50 years or so back. It is now
a hopeless situation. The current white-house occupant will finish us
off within the next 2 or 3 years.

This entitlement philosophy in the states today is beyond belief.
