Lightbulb 5 Ways to Increase Mental Acuity, End Depression, Prevent Alzheimer's

Five easy ways to increase mental acuity, end depression, and prevent or reverse Alzheimer's

by Paul Fassa

(NaturalNews) Ignore mainstream medicine's "remedies" for mental problems. There are several safer and less expensive alternatives for mild or acute levels of dementia. Mild levels of dementia include mental fog and forgetfulness. Acute dementia includes Alzheimer's disease. And other mental issues regardless of age have some worthwhile alternative remedies as well.

NOTE: For more information on each short summary, there will be numbers in parenthesis that refer to article links in the Sources section below this article.

These remedies produce positive results if you consume mostly organic foods and beverages while avoiding fluoridated water and processed foods with excitotoxins MSG and aspartame.

Alzheimer's and Other Forms of Acute Dementia (1)

Out of concern for her husband's Alzheimer's, Dr. Mary Newport researched a drug that Big Pharma was testing for Alzheimer's. Her husband had missed enrolling as a research subject. He was seriously into the worst phases of Alzheimer's, so Mary was motivated to find a solution.

She discovered that the trial drug was using a patentable synthetic version of medium chain triglyceride (MCT) oil. She found that unprocessed coconut oil has an abundance of natural MCT oil. Metabolizing MCTs creates ketones, and ketones are known to stall or even reverse Alzheimer's. Her husband's condition improved dramatically over a few months of daily coconut oil consumption.

Depression, anxiety, brain fog and forgetfulness (2)

An amazing Ayurvedic herb for all the above symptoms is being rediscovered in the modern western world. It is known as Brahmi or Bacopa. It's unusual because it stimulates mental clarity and memory recall while decreasing anxiety and/or depression. It's considered useful for ADD as well as brain fog, and it's safe and inexpensive.

Orthomolecular Psychiatry(3)

This is a form of medicine that utilizes only vitamin and mineral supplements. An example is IV mega dosing of vitamin C for cancer and lung problems. Orthomolecular psychiatry was started by Psychiatrist Abraham Hoffer, who successfully treated schizophrenics with mega doses of niacin and other supplements.

Currently, Dr. Carl Pfeiffer's clinic, the Pfeiffer Treatment Center in Warrenville, Illinois, claims a cure rate for all types of mentally disturbed children, from ADD to autism, of 85% without side effects.

Several holistic practitioners recommend high daily doses of niacinamide for mental fogginess and forgetfulness. Niacinamide doesn't give the tingly facial flush that niacin produces. But it is effective for preventing Alzheimer's, improving focus, and increasing mental clarity.

Sage Advice (4)

Extract or tincture of Sage has been shown to be successful in reducing Alzheimer's risk. It also improves memory and mental acuity. You can learn to make your own tinctures easily with bulk sage herbs to save some bucks.

Mild Exercise (5)

Walking a mile a day, briskly, is considered one way to help stave off Alzheimer's if you're middle aged or older. It's even better if your walks are in nature. A nice urban park or suburban setting is sufficient.

Then there is a slightly rigorous exercise which for three minutes anyone can use to improve mood and mental acuity. It's been used successfully for children with learning disabilities and by foggy or forgetful adults.

The Latest Dietary Breakthrough for Mental Disorders

GAP Syndrome (Gut and Psychology Syndrome) is a recent development by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride. This will be covered with some detail in another article. But basically, poor digestion has been isolated as a major source of mental disorders. Improving digestion is the remedy.

There is a major connection with the gut to the brain, an area that Dr. Wakefield was beginning to probe before he was attacked by the vaccine industry through the British medical authorities.

Hope others reading this post will also read my blog on the topic and perhaps investigate My other Alzheimer's blogs here

Faulty glucose metabolism is a feature of both Diabetes and Alzheimer's although Diabetes increases the risk of Alzheimer's the two conditions are not directly linked, they both have common features.

However knowing those with Alzheimer's have problems with glucose metabolism it seems to me criminal negligence NOT to ensure an alternative fuel source for the brain. My local UK hospital was publicly criticized by the National authority checking standards, for not ensuring demented patients actually we able to consume the food put in front of them.
Having patients starve because they haven't the sight, cognitive awareness to understand, or the physcial ability to life themselves up to manage to reach the food seems utterly reprehensible. But it is equally cruel and neglectful to provide Alzheimer's patient with food whose macronutrient content they are unable to metabolise.
If we know Alzheimer's patients can't manage high carb glucose rich foods but NEED an althernative and that alternative is FAT, either Coconut oil, MCT or something the body/brain can easily convert to ketone bodies then it is sheer neglect not providing it.
We know it's the older people with higher cholesterol levels that live the longest, so in the same way growing children should not be drinking low fat milk neither should the elderly. (or perhaps every in between)

for Alzheimer I thought curcumin was the magic ingredient? Certain parts of india have the lowest cases of Alzheimer and the few studies (UCLA) I saw indicate it's heavy consumption of curcumin in their diet.
I also just read recently there was a study on Resveratrol and Alzheimer's. Even though I've seen this a few times I would think people on the mediteran would have lower cases of Alzheimer's, but I can't seem to find this to be true. Only information on india and curcumin, which I already love curry

Great post, great info K2C!!

Like jbo, I too have been coming across more & more things in relation to Resveratrol & Curcumin being Alzheimer's preventatives. Naturally they won't work if the person is consuming inflammatory foods.
