Default L-Theanine tolerance?

Hello everyone. New to this forum. I have found that L-Theanine is providing me with some relief from my anxiety. I recommend anyone give it a try if they are looking for something natural. I have been taking the Theanine Serene formula from Source Naturals. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if you can build up a tolerance to Theanine and if so how to avoid it best? I would like to take it as often as possible.

Hello Lookingforpeace, welcome to the forum! I'm glad to hear that L-Theanine is giving you relief from your anxiety. I have no experience with this amino acid, except in a sleep-aid combined with Melatonin, which I only take occassionally.

I can only guess that if you take it often enough, you'll build a tolerance. Maybe taking a week break from it and using an herb like Scullcap or Passionflower during those times might work for you.

I really like the homoepathic remedy called coffea 30c for getting to sleep if I have trouble.. Heel homoepathics makes a combo remedy called neurexan that works well too. https://www.iherb.com/search?kw=heel%20neurexan

another thing that works for me is hot mild with a little honey in it.. It has just enough tryptohan to do the trick

It might be best to have a variety of things you can use.

Not that I am aware of.

Theanine is an ingredient in green tea, and is much stronger in green tea extract, so I would suggest drinking 2 or 3 cups of green tea daily and also taking 200mg of green tea extract twice per day.

Another good product is called SAMe. Do some research on it, as well as St. John's Wort.

Here's a good artilce on it. My doc told me to take it when I can't sleep. I don't have anxiety, just a mind that doesn't know how to quit... I never take it prefering to burn the midnight oil or using the other stuff I mentioned in a previous post If I feel that I must sleep.

Default Thanks for your answers

I forgot I made this post. I found my own post by googling.

I will look into the SamE. I have also since found passion flower extract works well for me so I have two things I can rotate (in theory?) to avoid tolerance.
