Default De-odorizng, cleaning sneakers

Like an idiot this summer I used several of my shoes without socks for a bit, and now they stink badly. I really don't want to have to throw them out or continue stinking up everywhere.

Does anyone know a way to clean and deodorize them? What should I use?

I use a mild detergent and wash them on the 'hand-wash' cycle of my washer. In my old washer , I used the delicate cycle, cold water only. Guess you could add some white vinegar for the odor. Dry on air cycle or out in the sun.

I wash mine in the frontloader with ammonia, and then dry using a Peet Boot Dryer.
