lol @ Mad Scientest. That name didn't 'sink in' until you picked it.

Okay, we're winding down to racetime!!
https://www.kentuckyderby.com
Since 17 of these horses apparently do not have a buddy, I'll write down the names of NMT members and assign them a horse. This isn't to exclude anyone, I'm basing it on the last 17 recent member visitors. And if you don't like your horse, tuff ti..... umm too bad! It was totally random listing

If you'd still like to pick a horse, there's still time! Just post your pick!!

1 Daddy Long Legs, C. O’Donoghue 30-1 athletic dept, ophiuchus

2 Optimizer, J. Court 50-1 Kite Surfer, mommy sunshine

EarlyBird is on a distinguished road
Exclamation

I'm picking Hansen, number 14, a horse from here in N. Ky. where I live.
They've said that 14 is a lucky number for him - & he's in stall 14 at Churchill Downs too, plus in 14th place position.
Hansen has an off white coat so should be easy to see.
The Derby will be on NBC at 6pm EDT tho track festivities start around 4pm, at least locally here.
They'll show/talk to horse owners, etc plus whatever notable people are there.
We & Louisville had some heavy storms yesterday afternoon & evening - I think I heard they had to
clear the Down's infield of people for safety reasons.
I think today is supposed to be just fine so Not a sloppy track.

Did anyone watch the race?

Of course the horses are the cream of the crop, but this group was exceptional.

I always try to watch the race. Like the women's hats. I also enjoy the owners' bios. The old lady that owned Union Rags. Bless her heart. She sold him, then bought him back at 3 times what she sold him for.

I've been to Churchill Downs in the early 60s. It's changed a bit. Earlybird lives in the same state. Have you been earlybird?

My method for choosing a winner.

Seeing as how I know little about horses other then they are big animals with four feet and have a tendency to like to run.

I take a couple deep breaths, relax, then look at the list of names and see which one jumps out.

Me too! I love going through the website & checkin' out the owner's bios.
I love watching how the horses move as they parade them over to the starting gates.

And the hats, well... that's on my tado list. I gotta go sometime, just to feel what it feels like to dress up in Kentucky Derby fashion

Simply brilliant Mad Scientest!
You're getting kidnapped & taken to Kentucky in 2013!

This is how 'I'll have another' got his name~

J. Paul Reddam, the horse's owner, named him in honor of his wife's cookies more specifically, his response every time she asks if he'd like one more cookie. It's optimism combined with satisfaction, and it's exactly what everyone associated with the horse is feeling
