Question Computer Problem - Won't Start

I have a 2009 Dell Inspiron 518 Intel Core 2 processor E7400. Today it won't power on, and the blue light by the power button is off. I checked the plugs and wires, everything seems fine. There's a green light that's on in the back of the computer.

It worked fine yesterday, and hasn't been moved or damaged in any way. I don't know much about computers, does anyone have a Dell Inspiron and had the same problem? Do you think it's the power supply, or just a connection? Thanks for any suggestions, or something simple I can try to fix it. Not sure when I can be back online to read any replies, thanks.

Sounds like the Computer Power Supply Unit (PSU) has failed, which is a common fault on the Dell 518. Sometimes it fails intermittently.
Try unplugging the PC and holding down the power button for 30-60 seconds.
Plug in the PC again and try to start. If that doesnt work you will need to get a computor technician to try a new PSU.
It could also be a Motherboard problem which again would need technical help.

Thanks for your suggestion Liverock, I tried it but it didn't work. My husband took everything apart, cleaned it, removed and replaced things, checked the switch by bypassing it, put it back together and it didn't work. After a few hours I tried it just for the heck of it, and it turned on. It wasn't overheated, because it was off all night when it first acted up. Not sure what it was or how long it'll last but I'm using it for now.
