The only link in that thread is an image from a very popular image hosting site, it should be fine.

Okay
But, I had to reset my pc back a few days, and it knocked McAfee out to the point where I needed to uninstall & reinstall~
Maybe it was coincidence.

I removed the link. My virus web checker caught something (let me know), so the poster can download it here or somewhere else, if it is important.

I've worked with anti-virus programs, in corporate America, since the days shortly after the Ethernet went public (beyond universities). After usenet. I worked with mainframe computers (as big as small bedrooms) and midrange and webservers (big as refrigerators). We always had to protect the corporation. That was only a small part of my job, in information technology, but a critical one.

These picture gallery sites are favored by hackers, because they are so well visited. It is not the fault of any of our posters or the webmasters of those sites. It is just a dark part of the world wide web.

On the individual level, my PC, I've found a few excellent anti-virus checkers that are free and excellent. https://www.comodo.com/home/internet-...t-security.php This updates frequently and has never failed me.

I also use https://www.malwarebytes.org/ Their free version is just as good as their product. It has a disc scanner too.

I'm testing Microsoft Security Essentials. It seems to be an excellent product so far. Good results from 100s of other users too. Free. https://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ If you run this one, it would be good to run Malwarebytes with it.

Wow, pretty impressive jfh!

I'm saving those links for when McAfee runs out in Sept. It's more trouble than it's worth & everytime my pc is attacked, the script running thingy gets disabled and won't stay 'on' unless I reinstall.

What do you think of the Windows Defender?

When you install Microsoft Security Essentials, Window Defender is disabled. No longer needed.

Many thanks for the info, Jim! I thought sites like imageshack wouldn't have such silly and critical problems, obviously I was wrong. With a huge user base, they should get lots of virus reports and take immediate actions.

Sorry, cookie, I should have taken your warning more seriously.

That's okay!

In fact, I wouldn't mind if anyone wanted to delete my posts on that thread...

They probably do. They also probably depend upon some corporate anti-virus company to do this for them. Someone like Trend-Micro or Computer Associates. The problem is that there are so many hackers with too much time on there hands. A social network or sharing site is prime target.
