Unhappy Cataract Surgery on a Blind Eye?

Hey guys, I'm new here. I was wondering if anybody had any information/ experience with cataract surgery?

My dad has cataracts, and had surgery on his left eye before I was born (like 20 years ago) and ended up blind in that eye. He was recently injured on the job when a wire cut underneath his eye, and found out he has 8 months of sight left in his right eye. I want him to try surgery again, but I don't want to risk the rest of his sight....Would it be possible to operate on his blind eye, or is it too late?

Thanks in advance.

Hard to say. A doc would have to determine the absolute cause of blindness and if it is repairable. We certainly cant tell from where we are here.

Thanks. That would be the best option. I was just curious because I was doing some independent research on cataracts and it seemed that the question I had was too specific for Google. I'm hoping I can convince my dad to see an eye doctor soon.
