Question macular degeneration

I have just been diagnosed with moderate macular degeneration (dry) in my right eye and I have cataracts in both eyes. I have bought all the vitamins and supplements that both the doctor recommended, and suggestions on the web. My problem is that I take a lot of supplements for different things and want to find out if any of them will cause a problem with combining the ones that aren't for macular degeneration. I take Taurine, Curcumin, IP6 with Inositol, potassium, vitamin B-12, B-1 and B-6. (I can't take the B complex), L-carnitine, Ribose and CoQ10 as Ubiguinol. and cod liver oil. I'm told I need to get some magnesium now too!!

The list I have for the macular degeneration is:
500 milligrams of vitamin C
400 units of vitamin E
60 mg of zinc (as zinc oxide)
2 mg of copper (as cupric oxide)
Lutein 9 mg
Zeaxanthin 8 mg

Does anyone have any suggestions how some of these might not be good to use together?
I have to get individual supplements because so many of the complexes have ingredients that I can't take due to estrogen activity. I've been researching for days and can use any help anyone might have to offer.

Hello Juby. I don't see anything to worry about re interactions, but you're taking a lot of supplements! I'm wondering if it wouldn't be wiser for you to put more emphasis on boosting your diet with healthy, natural foods. (Esp. blueberries/blackberries)

These supplements you're taking for the MD, are they individual ones? There are numerous very good eye health supplements available nowadays that contain everything in one tablet.

I would advise having a look at the 'Precious Eyes' post elsewhere in this section, and this one might help you too

I read your article about cataracts and thought I'd tell you about my wife who was told that she had catracts in both eyes by Vision Express. She was then advised that taking blueberries was good for the eyes. She started taking blueberries and pure blueberry juice daily and after a year returned to Vision Express and was told she no longer had cataracts
- Ted Burke (Letter to Mature Times newspaper October 2009)

Remarkable! Cataracts in both eyes vanquished by nothing more than blueberries! (Blackberries are even more potent.)

I am going to give the blueberries a try but I'm afraid my cataracts are too far advanced. I plan to have surgery on one eye after I've adjusted to this diagnosis of Macular Degeneration and taken some vitamins.
Due to the estrogen activity of so many of the herbs and vitamins in the formulas, I can't take them.
The macular Degeneration has me scared and I'm wondering how long I have before I start to lose my sight. For now I wouldn't even know I had anything wrong. I can see good with my glasses. I do a lot of reading and don't have any problems at all except driving at night if it's raining.

Welcome to the forum Juby! There's some drops recommended in this older thread for cataracts, you might want to give it a read...https://www.natmedtalk.com/showthread...tion+cataracts
