Default What's wrong with me?

Hi all, Im new to the site, but in search of helpful medical advice of where to go from here. Here is the background:
Im a 22 year old male about to finish my first semester of dental school. I am in good physical condition. 511, 155lbs, enjoyed athletics my entire life, walk at least 1.5 miles per day and run 2 miles several days per week, lift weights 2 days per week, eat a well balance diet with little to no fast food.

Current Symptoms:
Severe Hair loss (was strictly all parts of scalp, now some body hair when I run my hands through it),
Recurrent mouth ulcers (Continually, as one is gone, more follow)
Daily stiffness and pain in my neck (front and back) and upper shoulder muscles
Muscle aches and weakness all day (especially throughout leg muscles),
brain fog, difficulty concentrating, mood swings,
Severely decreased sex drive and energy,
Frequent swollen lymph nodes in my neck.
 Sensitive gums
 Dull Headaches
Hard, painful stools all the time (often blood when wiping) (only defecate 3 days/week average)
A general lousy, off feeling most every day.

Current daily supplements include:
 Opti-Men Multivitamin
3 Tablespoons of Raw Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
5000 Vitamin D every other day and plenty of sunshine when weather permits
 Fish oil
 B Complex
3 drops Lugols Iodine 2% solution
(Ive researched and tried numerous other natural supplements over the last few years with no improvement)

Story:
As a child, had lots of ear problems and took a lot of antibiotics. Other than that, I was a normal kid and was very active.
In high school, it was extremely difficult to get out of bed at 7a.m. despite going to sleep by 11p.m. each night. Im not sure if that was a symptom or not. I played soccer year around and about my junior year began noticing decreased energy during many days. Sometimes I just didnt feel like playing, my body would be sluggish. I also noticed a bit of brain fog on some days. Towards the end of high school, I had started becoming increasingly sick with various bugs.

Nevertheless, I played a year in college then decided to go a different direction. After soccer in my first year of college, I stayed active but began having more serious health issues. I began having mood swings and symptoms similar to depression, but they werent continual. Doctor gave me an antidepressant which helped none, so I quit taking it within a year. I also had some serious bouts with sickness during the first two years of college. At one point I was very sick for almost a month with no energy at all, tired, weak, headaches. Then another time I believe I had the swine flu, fever around 103.5, so sick I couldnt raise my arm, probably the sickest I have ever been. After these infections, sickness seemed more common in my life. Many days, I didnt know if I was sick or just feeling lousy, which had become an almost daily routine. Many days I felt tired, fatigued, stiffness, headaches off and on, some difficulty concentrating, stomach pains, and some anxiety coupled with slight mood swings and decreased immune function. In general, I never felt great, it was difficult to describe the off, lousy feelings to a doctor. I also had a very sudden bout of Epididymitis during this time which led to 3 rounds of antibiotics and 3 urology visits over 6 months (it wasnt due to an STD or sexual promiscuity) . The doctor gave a nerve block and felt around but never knew what the problem was. Said maybe it was scar tissue. No scans or tests were done. I still have pain in that region, especially after sexual intercourse.

So about age 20, I went and complained extensively to my primary physician who ran some blood tests, and an MRI of my intestines due to the stomach pain. Well, I didnt know a lot about medicine at the time and I was told that everything looked great and normal. So I went on, struggling.
Fast forward to my senior year of college and graduation time. Things began getting worse around graduation of last year. During the summer, I never felt good. But I felt worse than before. I felt like I had a cold/flu every other day, and my good days were a fraction of what I once felt. My sex drive also began decreasing during this time. Just a lack of libido and decreased interest in sexual things. Other symptoms were a dramatic increase in hair loss from all over my scalp, some neck/shoulder pain and stiffness, more muscle fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, etc.
Dental school started, with 23.5 credit hours. Needless to say, things can be stressful. Things escalated about 1 month in, as I was barely able to get out of bed each day. All above symptoms were dramatically worse. I went to a new physician and he ordered a blood panel. I was then referred to an endocrinologist who ordered a couple blood panels. Below are the results:

Blood Draw 1 (9/14/12):
CBC with Differential : normal everything
 Complete Metabolic Panel: everything normal
 Testosterone: Serum: 291 (348-1197). Free: 11.0 (9.3-26.5)
 TSH: 2.5 (0.45-4.5)

Blood Draw 2 (endocrinologist)(10/12/12)
 [Testosterone, Free/Total Equilibrium]: Serum: 468 (348-1197), Free: 14.65 (5-21), % Free: 3.13% (1.5-4.2%)
Testosterone, Free, Direct: Free: 14.5 (9.3-26.5)
 T4 Direct, Free: 1.25 (0.82-1.77)
 TSH: 4.05 (0.450-4.50)
 Cortisol: 25.4 (2.3-19.4)
 LH: 3.1 (1.7-8.6)
 FSH: 1.9 (1.5-12.4)
 ACTH, Plasma: 25.5 (7.2-63.3)
 Prolactin: 21.8 (4.0-15.2)
 Estradiol: 22.9 (7.6-42.6)
 TPO Ab: 7 (0-34)

Blood Draw/Tests 3 ( I had to ask for further looking into Thyroid)(11.12.12):
 Urinary Cortisol: 14 ug/L(undefined) 33 ug/24hr (0-50)
 Prolactin: 6.1 (4-15.2)
 TSH: 6.8 (0.45-4.5)

Default Candida

Candida symptoms

Here is a list of symptoms and conditions that commonly occur in people with Candida overgrowth. Most all of these same symptoms typically improve or disappear with effective treatment for Candida.

Some of the symptoms listed may sound “normal,” because the Candida problem is so common in the modern world. Some are led to say, when they review this list, “Doesn’t that describe everybody?” It must be emphasized that none of these symptoms are part of normal health.

When too many people around us are ill, strange symptoms may become common, but that does not make them normal. Many of the things listed — such as asthma, diabetes, epidemic obesity, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, ADD/ADHD, autism, panic attacks and others — were virtually non-existent (or at least much less common) before the 1970s.

They became much too common as a consequence of various factors, including: widespread overuse of antibiotics starting in the 1950s; increased availability of chlorinated swimming pools; much increased use of pesticides, hormones and antibiotics in the food supply; the advent of the birth control pill; and the addition since the 1990s of barley malt into nearly every baked food (cereals, crackers, cookies) and of high-fructose corn syrup as a sweetener in beverages.

A person with Candida overgrowth may have only 2-3 of these symptoms, or may identify with many.

Mental/emotional/nervous system:
  • Headaches and migraine headaches — difficulty falling asleep, or waking up in the middle of the night with a mind that won’t calm down (typically between 1 and 3 am) Irritability and confusion Poor memory Anxiety attacks, panic attacks Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) Heart beating too fast or irregularly Sexual problems — impotence or lack of desire, or excessive sexuality Attention deficit, hyperactivity (ADD/ADHD) Dizziness Numbness Feeling of floating or not quite being in your body
  • Indecisiveness, difficulty organizing and cleaning messy areas
Digestive system:
  • Cravings for sugar, chocolate, milk, cheese, vinegar, pickles, alcohol, bread, nuts or fruit “Metabolic syndrome” which includes the following: large abdomen (“beer belly”), adult-onset diabetes, high cholesterol or triglycerides, high blood pressure “Beer belly,” also called truncal obesity — excess weight centered around the abdomen Acid reflux/GERD (heartburn) Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) Bloating, flatulence or abdominal pain Rectal itching Constipation and/or diarrhea
  • Excessively thin or anorexic/bulimic
Skin, eyes, hair:
  • Skin and nail fungal infections (current or past), including: athlete's foot, vaginal yeast infections, fungal toenails, ringworm, jock itch, tinea versicolor or itchy eyelids Skin problems like eczema, rashes, psoriasis Prematurely graying hair Pupils always dilated
  • Unusually green eyes, or eye color has turned greenish
Immune disorders:
  • Asthma and allergies Recurring infections — colds, ears, bladder, sinus Autoimmune disease (lupus, hypothyroidism, arthritis, others)
  • Penicillin allergy
Whole body:
  • Fatigue Muscle or joint pain, fibromyalgia Cold feet, cold hands, sometimes cold nose Sweating, especially at night
  • Uncomfortable at any temperature
Women’s health issues:
  • Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) Endometriosis (chronic pelvic pain)
  • Infertility (female), some miscarriages, toxemia of pregnancy (preeclampsia)
Symptoms seen particularly in children up to about 8 years old:
  • Early allergy to foods like milk Infections as a baby Child had or has frequent ear infections, tonsillitis, strep throat or bladder infections, especially if these infections were treated with antibiotics Cravings for milk, cheese, yogurt, macaroni and cheese, or peanut butter Asthma “Drama king” or “drama queen” — complains quite vocally and often — difficulty going to sleep, sleeps too lightly or has frequent nightmares, and wakes up too early (or sometimes too late) Too thin or overweight Attention deficit with or without hyperactivity (ADD/ADHD) Aggressive, poor social interactions, can’t stop moving, frequent fights or arguments, frequent crying Autism
  • Pale complexion, dark circles under the eyes
Two points should be understood with regard to the above list of signs and symptoms of Candida overgrowth.

First, while all of the symptoms listed are definitely seen in Candida patients and evidence indicates Candida causes or strongly contributes to the development of these problems, there are other contributing factors that can also bring about some of these problems (such as mercury or other metal toxicity, consistent excess electromagnetic field exposure, underlying viral infections, petrochemical exposure, etc.).

Second, treatment for Candida alone will usually bring about significant improvement in these symptoms, but will not be adequate in all cases to restore health. Often additional treatments aimed at improving liver, adrenal or thyroid function, or correcting immune and allergic problems, are necessary to regain health.

I have read about Candida before and have taken a good share of probiotics. ACV is also considered a weapon against Candida. I rarely eat processed foods or much sugar. I'm not convinced Candida is my problem, but I'm open to all suggestions.

That's one heck of a laundry list.

Try L-lysine; helps with the mouth sores. Good for active people.

My favorite health and fitness site.

dds, you really need to see a good naturopath or medical doctor that is dedicated to alternative medicine. Because all your blood levels are basically normal you need to have someone assisting you who thinks outside the box.

The abnormal TSH, Sometimes when people start on lugols iodine the TSH goes up for a while. Perhaps this is what is going on as the thyroid is stimulated by the presence of potassium iodide to signal the anterior pitutary gland to form more THS and hence, thyroid hormone. Generally it comes down after a while. You are on a very moderate and what I consider a low dosage.

Not to likely you have any disease in the testes, and a low testosterone level could come from stress and the sickness that has invaded. I suspect it will pick up when the other issues are resolved. I would not try to treat this at this time.
The kind of naturopath you need will be highly skilled and have access to some high tech equipement. Find either a naturopath or an alternative thinking medical doctor who does dark field live blood analysis. Through this exam you may get a better idea of what is happening. This test is essential and this list of doctors may help you to find one. Many ozone practitioners, including naturopaths and medical doctors do live blood analysis. Keep looking until you find someone.
https://www.healthsalon.org/421/ozone...nd-in-the-usa/

I suspect you are having problems with some kind of pathogen. It could even be a chronic case of mono, epstein barr. Did any doctor test you for epstein barr?

Your symptoms also are very similar to chronic lyme disease. A dark field live blood analysis can also show it this might be the case.

I have a few articles for you to read to advance some of your understanding. I think this will be an eye opener for you. This diagnostic method can also determine if you have problems with systemic candida. Why go to the bother of treating candida if you dont have it. Don't get caught up in a guessing game. Find someone to look at your blood.
https://www.healthsalon.org/586/live-blood-analysis-by-dark-field-microscope/

If you end up getting some conventional tests for lyme like the elisa or western blot you can end up with a misdiagnosis of MS. Please look over the PDF files found in this thread
https://www.natmedtalk.com/f28/20843-ms-lyme-disease.html

These tests, elisa, western blot, are used to diagnose lyme and ms... I'd like to know just how they know the difference... fact of the matter is that many cases of MS are lyme. These tests do not visualize or grow out any pathogen so the doctor is clueless as to what he is really treating and spinning people out on non effective therapies at great cost to the physiology and to the wallet.. Its all smoke and mirrors.

Lyme is now easily curable. If you find out that that is what you have come back to this forum and we can discuss it. Antibiotics is not the cure for chronic lyme. Do not get yourself hooked into that endless and life threatening treadmill. There are much easier ways that will get rid of the spirochete and restore proper organ function from the damages that it has done.

Other options for consideration are MMS. MMS can cure many pathogenic diseases. In regard to lyme it will require some assist with other supplements. I have seen chronic fatigue cure in less than one weel with mms. Chronic fatigue is a basket diagnosis but many cases are caused by epstein barr which is easily cured with mms.
You can learn about mms here: www.genesis2church.org I suggest that you read all the links to further your education. MMS has also cured some cases of epididymitis. I do beleive that this is caused by an infection but not necessarily by any common microbes that antibiotics usually target. You will understand more after you read the thread and watch the videos regarding dark field live blood analysis. Inflammation is almost always caused by an aberrant microbe of some sort, and often one that cannot be diagnosed with conventional means.

Mouth sores can be very uncomfortable. My son has delt with them since being a little child and we have found no actual cure. MMS does not seem to help him with this but mouthwashes with grapefruit seed extract does. Nutribiotic is the recommended brand. If your gums have open wounds the GSE can really burn and cause quite a bit of pain. Start with a few drops in water and gargle. Advance very slowly, and only apply directly on a wound if you are VERY brave and have a low tolerance to pain. GSE gets rid of my sons mouth sores in a day or two when he gets them... but.... perhaps your sores will respond well to mms mouth wash. I hope they do as it is the easiest thing to do. I know it works for some people but when I get them, which is rare the GSE gargle works best.

Having a bm 3 x a week is considered normal by brain dead physicians... although it may be in the realm of normal pattern it certainly is not healthy. Start incorporating flax seed into your diet daily, up to one tablespoon, either in bread, muffins, or in water which is ideal with a meal.

Your coritsol is high due to stress of your health and from school. I recommend that you take a semester off and address your health only, elsewise you will not likely make your way through with great success. This process of getting well will make you a much better dentist in the long run...trust me on this prophecy... you will end up quite enlightened... and healthy.

If all fails that I have brought forth there is low dose naltrexone. Save that as a last resort for after you know what you have and after you have tried other alternative solutions. You can search low dose naltrexone to find out about it.

and hey. you dont have any mercury fillings do you?
time for them to go which brings me to this link for you
https://www.healthsalon.org/478/biomi...r-alleman-dds/

Things to do nutritionally,

first off get your D3 levels checked. Have a blood draw on your D3 off supplement day. With your illness you want levels at least at 60 or 70...not the recommended 50. Increase supplementation if needed to daily.

Start eating gogi berries. Get them here at www.gogiberries.com 1/3 cup per day. This is the preferred variety used by Tibetian herbalists, not the kind that are grown in China.

Add flax seed daily.

Drink nettle tea 2 to 4 cups a day to provide minerals

Learn about and start drinking Kombucha

Increase vitamin c to 4 grams a day

Start taking magnesium supplements in the form of magnesium orinate, this may help with muscle pain as well as to help getting your bowels moving. We have lots of threads on this forum dealing with magnesium as it should be applied, not how a medical doc will tell you. Do a forum search.

Stool softeners are available over the counter at the drug store. ANY kind of fibrous food or supplement and cut grain from your diet. If you take care of frequency, going at least once a day, the healing should start. Activity helps a lot with digestion too. Maybe a half dozen situps, leg lifts or deep knee bends twice a day.

This can get serious, but it can be easily brought under control.

I agree with what SG said above, but you can also buy a box of prunes & begin by eating 3 daily.

Thank you all for the replies. Are there any published studies or articles showing the benefit of MMS?
I try to eat a high fiber diet, usually full of fruits, vegetables, beans, even green smoothies which are pure fiber. Not much helps for consistency. And like I said in the first paragraph, I exercise quite a bit. Perhaps I will buy some prunes. Were you saying to eliminate all grain for my diet, or add whole grain?

Thanks for all the great links, I've been reading as much as possible.

So if it's not thyroid issues, where should I go from here with regards to a doctor/lab work?Should I ask for blood work related to infectious diseases?

I am now going to increase iodine dosage gradually to 50 mg/day and add Vitamin C, Magnesium, and cut out grains from the diet.

I'd change over my diet, as you seem to be doing, experiment with the supplements and prepare for success.

Oh, I'd up my vitamin D too.

DDS its all here. https://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/
You will want to read the articles on this site. The overall healing plan is labeled "how to over come candida" but its not just for Candida, its for problems such as what your are experincing right now. Read the articles on that site and you will understand what is happening to you. You may have to leave some of what you learned in school at the door.

Hi, I am a Naturopath and I would highly recommend a HTMA - Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis done with a Naturopath that does them. Sometimes with a line up of symptoms such as yours it can be due to a toxic ratio of trace minerals that has occurred over time and this is why you can't pinpoint it to anything. Ring around and see if you can find a practitioner in your area, it is a test done at home and is not expensive. Sounds like you have had epstein barr as well so you need to support your immune system.
All the best

dds2016 I think I have the answer you are looking for....MSG poisoning!
Do a search on msg and its effects. Check your food labels for msg and also other names that msg hides behind. Manufacturers use all kinds of glutamate to flavor their foods and you must know the names of all of them.
Your symptoms mimic this list of known effects of ingesting msg....
