I've been wanting to try cooking my breakfast porridge overnight in a thermos, but I couldn't find the right size and shape thermos. Last week I found a 17oz wide mouth stainless steel thermos for $5 at BIG-LOTS. In the evening I add 1 scoop(25cc) each of oats groats, barley, chana dal, quinoa, and millet to the thermos and top off with boiling water, cap it off, and it's done in the morning. In the morning I add berries, stevia, and 1/2 cup of coconut oil.
It's good and not much trouble. I used to make a big pot and refrigerate. I expect the daily batch is more nutritious.
For now we see through a glass, darkly.... 1st Corinthians 13:12
Hey, that's a great idea. Soaking overnight has never appealed to me, but it is needed. I use raisins and pumpkin seeds in porridge.
Please can someone explain another language hitch?
What is "groats"
What are groats, if it's more than one!
And grateful thanks to Scorpiotiger, who resized my eagle avatar. I fiddled with it so much, then lost patience, but scorpio did it in a trice.
That is really an ingenius idea, sometimes it's the simple things we overlook. I bet you could do a nice veggie soup like that too. With some sundried veggies and a boiled broth, maybe some brown rice too. Will have to see if I can get into Big Lots on my next day off.
