\r\n \r\n I have had bloating problems for over 5 years and there isn\'t any one food I can see doing it. To much Raw Veggie will sure cause bloating so I figure that Artificial sweeteners could be part of the problem. I\'m borderline diabetic so I shouldn\'t eat honey and sugar stuff so I\'m wondering that at age 65 I should just cut out all Artificial sweeteners like the 3 packs of splender per day and the non diet 7-up and just tough it out because my health is worst more than my sweet tooth. So has anyone experience Artificial sweeteners than might have cause your bloating?\r\n

\r\n \r\n I don\'t use artificial sweeteners, they are very bad for your health. A more natural and safe option to Splenda is Stevia. It is available at any health food store, and likely now in supermarkets also.

\nZevia is actually the brand name of a diet soda that uses Stevia in it. My sister is a diabetic, and she liked the flavors very much. You can look for that on the store shelves, and maybe give it a try.\r\n

\r\n \r\n I find that the artificial sweeteners whose names end in "ol" are bloaters. They are well known for that in most people, so I don\'t know why they are still used. You would find them on the label as sugar alcohols, like the popular sorbitol. Xylitol is another sugar alcohol that is natural and is very well tolerated by diabetics. But it too has the bloating tendency in some people.

\nI think it is a problem with digestion in that there is not enough stomach acid and enzymes to finish the job. So the food just ferments. That causes the bloating. Try not to drink anything with your meal for a while. See if that helps. Otherwise, try digestive bitters. They will help to increase stomach acid, improve the body\'s ability to create enzymes, and help to balance hormones. Among several other health benefits.\r\n

\r\n \r\n Thank you for your posts. The bottom line is I will quit taking Artificial sweeteners and just bit the bullet for my sweet tooth. When I get a craving for sweets I take a handful of raisins. If I get low blood sugar I eat raisins and walnuts.\r\n

Default Artificial sweeteners and bloating?

I have had bloating problems for over 5 years and there isn't any one food I can see doing it.
