Default Coconut Fat

I read that coconut oil (the VCO kind) should not be consumed by people with High Blood Pressure. Promoters of VCO say that is not true. Any idea where I can get at the truth?

I would only use the "VCO kind".

I would like to see such a report. I'd like to see what logic they use. High blood pressure has many causes. They must be cherry picking and forgot that coconut oil has medium chain fatty acids. It produces energy instead of fat, because it is quickly broken down by the liver. It is not omega3, but MCFA is highly healthy.

It lowers cholesterol, so that can't be their reasoning. The coconut water has been shown to significantly lower blood pressure. It keeps our blood platelets from sticking together (and causing dangerous clots). Regular users of coconut oils have a much lower chance of atherosclerosis (clogging of the arteries), arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), and strokes. Coconut oil can lower your blood pressure.

Well, I hope you are correct, jfh. HBP mildly runs in our family. The doctors are so quick to give you a prescription and then show you the door.

In looking on the Web for info on fats & oils, I came across Ray Peat (I find his writing hard to decipher, sometimes) implying that fish oils are bad for us, too. That's the omega 3's I guess, that are endlessly promoted.

Is it just me, or do you ever feel you don't know where to turn, with all the conflicting info to be had, and not just from the internet, where anybody can say anything, and quote any study they want whilst ignoring others...

Do you think that the little containers of org. coconut water from the health food store are good for us, or only the fresh coco water from coconuts that we buy ourselves? I thank you for all your thoughts & answers.

While I am here: I bought two different-appearing containers of Virgin Coconut Oil. Both NOW brand, if I recall right. I know they both said VCO on the label, and I believed at the time of purchase that they merely redesigned their container. However, one oil was a lovely pure white. The other was greyish with streaks, like the organic, non-virgin, expeller pressed yet refined, no-taste version of coco oil for cooking. I never bothered taking this back to the store as I was concerned I might have a big argument on my hands. So I used it for cooking only. F.W.I.W. What would you have done?
