You can move to where I live in the hill country of central Texas. It is always windy here. Always. 2mph or greater. Always. Also, the lake level changes so much and so quickly, the mosquitoes can't lay their eggs. Also, in a drought, there is no water pools to be found. I do have biting flies though.

My brother lives in South Carolina. He and his wife like to sleep outside on a comfortably large swing. They plug in fans to run all night. They claim it keeps the biting bugs and mosquitoes away.

If citronella is used to keep mosquitos away I wonder if rubbing lemon oil on skin would help?

Natural repellants. https://doubledanger.com/pictures/sim...pel-mosquitoes

I once read a research article that said that tomatoes, rubbed on the skin, repel them better than anything else. Now, some compound has been extracted from the tomato that is used in products as a safer solution to Deet. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases...0611070622.htm

Thank you. My reason for asking was I had been using 10% tea tree oil mixed in aloe vera to get rid of some extremely itchy little mites (scabies), after the conventional treatment failed to produce results.
However even at that 10% ratio it still had a noticeable aroma, which is what I suspect the mosquitoes would find objectionable. Thus Im thinking mixing it with aloe vera or some other body lotion might make it go farther and be easier to apply.

perhaps mix it with some sort of alcohol? like cheap vodka? or would that leech into a young child's skin?

I think it would be absorbed through the skin, and have negative effects. The Aloe Vera gel, like MS recommended, sounds like a good vehicle.

Someone on my facebook just posted this article this morning... I havent read it yet, but she said one of the suggestions were to put some vanilla extract in a spray bottle with water and spray it on you....So she tried it..... She says so far so good, no mosquitoes have been bothering her

Good stuff!
I'm going to try the vanilla option as an experiment. Just hope it doesn't attract anything else that bites lol

The essential oils idea mixes with 190 proof grain alcohol. I guess that gets you drunk so you don't feel the bites hahaha woohooie

Garlic would do it, but yuck on the odor.

The fourth option is Neem Oil. What is that?
