California walnuts are pasteurized by law. The orchards did everything they could to stop that law. So I guess the health claims might not be quite accurate after all.

I wonder how much the pasturization affects the product. Have any studies been done. They still sell almonds labeled as raw even though they have been treated... But I don't think it is heat treatment, yet called pasturization anyway. anyone know about this?

I eat 6 almonds & 4 walnuts every day & don't plan to stop eating them.

I do support Diamond. I like their products. I love the almonds especially. However, I know that they are very much pasteurized. With the walnuts, I go for the acids. I hope that pasteurization would not affect them very much.

I'm not so keen on Dr Oz.. by my standards I caught him in a couple of absolutely incredilous statements... but he is an improvement over some docs that have been on tv over the years..

The question is... how does a pasturized almond compare to an non pasturized almond?... to me there is certainly the question of life force and unaltered nutrients due to heat.... I have never seen any studies. Has anyone?
