I think loosing weight helps everything and it's not the surgery, but people loosing weight. From high blood pressure, acid reflux, migrains and all problems in between.

I agree with jbo, that weight loss in itself can improve many ailments both physical and mental. I am against any surgery unless it is mandatory. For migraines there are many alternatives to try such as the herbs Feverfew or Ginkgo Biloba. B vitamins and the mineral supplement Magnesium can also help. Here's an older thread that might be worth a read.

Migraines are different for each person. I tried so many things. I was losing 2-3 days of my life each week to migraines. Since May I have eliminated grains, rice, and potatoes and my migraines have been gone except for 2 occasions. The first I was trying to see if I could eat just a bit of my "forbidden" foods each day without a headache. I ate 2 rice stuffed grape leaves one day and a slice of pizza the next and got a migraine which lasted about 10 hours. The second migraine I got after working outside in the heat all day. it lasted a full day.

I have also added a Feverfew capsule 3 days a week and a magnesium supplement everyday. The local health store recommended Hyland's cell salts to help stave off the migraines too. I got the Kali Phos and Mag Phos and alternate them every 15 minutes when I had the migraine. Something of all this is working, but I couldn't tell you it will help you. Best wishes with it all.
