Default I.E.D. New reason to take prozac????

This article was forwarded to me this morning..... Scary!!! The concept of folks popping pills before they get in their car, so they can peacefully drive makes me want to quit driving..... Think I want to become a hermit, and just stay home all the time!!!!!

IED - it doesn't just mean Improvised Explosive Device anymore

We've all heard of road rage incidents - and I'm sure most of us have
been on the receiving end of them at one time or another. They're
nothing new. As long as there have been cars (and before that,
horses), there have no doubt been hotheads on the road acting like
crazed morons when someone accidentally cuts them off in traffic...

But now, all of a sudden, road rage is part of a "disorder."

According to recent articles from the Associated Press, Reuters, and
ABCNews.com, psychiatrists have now given these and similar outbursts
a name: Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED). They're even citing a
large-scale study to help lend this absurd notion some credibility.
Funded by the National Institute of Mental Health and affiliated with
the University of Chicago, the research evaluated questionnaire
responses of over 9,200 American adults surveyed face-to-face between
2001 and 2003.

Somehow, the results of this survey have led these quack-pots to the
conclusion that as many as 16 million Americans are suffering from the
condition. That's one out of every 18 of us! According to the profile
they've cooked up, you could be formally diagnosed with IED if you
have done one of the following more than three times in your life:

- Exhibited angry outbursts disproportionate to the situation
- Damaged yours or someone else's property in a fit of rage
- Threatened anyone or acted aggressively in response to stress

So basically, anyone who ever loses his or her temper over something
stupid once in a while (or has honked his horn at someone in traffic)
is now the victim of IED, not simply guilty of exhibiting momentary
bad behavior. According to the AP and other articles, symptoms
typically first show up in adolescence, around age 14 for boys and
somewhat later for girls...

Hmmm. Temper tantrums among adolescents - how unusual! It must be a
DISEASE!

Like with other largely made-up disorders such as ADHD, psychiatrists
are pointing to an imbalance in brain chemicals as the "cause" of
Intermittent Explosive Disorder. Funny, I always thought the cause was
traffic jams or other frustrating and stressful situations. And
naturally, the head-shrinkers have developed a course of treatment for
the condition - psychotropic drugs, of course. Keep reading...

************************************************** **

At least one psych-specific medical website (PsychNet-UK) is claiming
that some studies suggest that no less than eight prescription drugs
can help to control IED. Among them are some perennial favorites of
the straightjacket set like Prozac, Dilantin, and Zoloft...

What's funny (more like tragic) here is that the mainstream media is
buying into this farce hook, line, and sinker - just like it did with
ADD/ADHD. Instead of pointing a finger at the medical establishment
for reclassifying as "disorders" behavior patterns that fit well
within normal parameters (then pumping the "sufferers" full of
mind-altering psychotropic substances), the talking heads are acting
like sycophant zombies numbed by medications themselves!

And what's really disturbing about all this is that the rise of IED is
just another example of how the lines demarcating the poles of normal
behavior (like occasional temper outbursts in adults or periods of
hyperactivity in kids) and those that warrant therapy are being moved
ever closer together by the establishment - and for no other aim than
to sell more drugs and breed more dependency on medical treatment...

If this trend continues, soon any conduct that falls outside some
narrow theoretical model of what's considered by the white-jacket
folks to be "normal behavior" will result in medication - it'll be
like something out of an Aldous Huxley novel.

And since the pointy-heads already think people with a hot tempers
need their happy pills (remember, their study indicates that 7% of us
are suffering from IED), how long will it be before one of YOUR
personality traits falls outside their idea of normal?

Think about this, too: With more than 50% of Americans taking at least
one prescription drug for some ailment or another, NOT taking pills is
now abnormal...

Losing my cool over the mainstream's fools,

William Campbell Douglass II, M.D.

Hi Mad,

Under no circumstances should you ever take these pills while driving. It will distract you, and it's much too dangerous.
Always take them just before you go driving. Duh!

They really are scraping the bottom of the barrel for more "disorders" to medicalize!

Do they really believe they can get absolutely everyone on a prescription for something?

Just wait.... the newest disorder is going to become:

Alt-med-itis!

Prozac is going to be prescribed to ALL of us who have
this malady. Can't sign on 'til you've "drugged up."

Will need a note from your ISP in order to be on the net!

This is some sad sad facts that are stated above. You people are right on and what is really so sad is that there isn't a dang thing we can do about it. Unless we had the backing of someone like Bill Gates...

This druged up society is gone crazy. oh sorry.. no pun intended....

I was to meet a young man that was ... well.. mentally.. in a very bad way... he was a college student, he was on 5 different meds.. he called cocktails... and had tried to kill himself 7 or 8 times.. He had just been released from a hospital for the mentally ill. His parents had called me and begged me to talk to their son. They wanted me to try to convince him to get a some suppliments that a friend of theirs daughter used and gott off retalin and some other drugs, ( a smaller cocktail).

So I called him and set up an appointment in his home town, San Marcos Texas. I talked a lady to go with me an help talk to him because she was experienced!!! She had 'had' post partum depression for 26 years. She had been on 5 different meds for it, again, another cocktail.

She started taking the suppliments and within two months was completely off all meds and was standing infront of 100's of people telling her story. So I convinced her to help me talk to this young man.

We waited and waited and waited. He didn't show so we decided to order lunch and while we were eating it, he showed up.

Kevin said I'm sorry I am late. (now, please understand.. he lived less than 5 blocks from this resturant we were to meeting at).

He said he got in his car and headed toward the resturant and before he realized it, he was in New Braunfels. 30 miles down the road? Then said when he realized it he turned around an came back, to his apartment? He went into his apartment and found a note he wrote to himself.. meeting with Larry and Kathy...

So he drove over to the resturant. ????

I sat there, listenin to this young man tell us this and I was just dumbfounded. After Kevin left, I told Kathy that I couldn't beleive that there were actually people like that out there on the highway... Kathy said.. "Oh Honey... there are millions of us out there like that. Think about it... Next time you are in your car an you look over to the person in the car next to you.... chances are that person is on a mood altering drug." I almost choked on my tea.

Anyway.. to make a long story short... He did agree to go on the suppliments and did agree to be deligent in taking them and within a month and a half, was off all of his 'cocktail meds'. He started working and registered to go back to college. He now has been goin classes and passing and has a real life and is soooo thankful to be human again. He calls me at least once a month now. His mom and dad will send letters and cards to us.

Kevin has a girl friend now that was also on cocktails meds. She too is now off of them. They are engaged to be married and sometimes in August they will tie the not..

You know, I was talkin to Kathy last week about some friends of hers that are on Welbutrin. Twice a day! It's a husband an wife. both are on em.

He is a doctor and she is a school teacher. Kathy said the school teacher drove her car thru the garage, into the laundry room. She got out of the car and went into the house and started cooking supper. When the Doctor hubby got home he was shocked to see what she had done to the house and car. So when he went into the house and asked her, she didn't even know what she was talkin about?

She said she had talked to em about he suppliments but becasue he is a doc, he knows everything and also.. he said there is not a problem. These two have two children!!!!

Oh well..

As stated before.. My quest in life is to get every child off of retalin.. Since my nephew blew his face off with a shotgun because of those wonderful 'cocktail meds', I have become very vocal on this subject.

I have seen children come off of ritilin. Adults get off prozac, zolof, welbutrin, adderol, and cocktail meds. Living a normal and fun loving life now.

But there are millions out there. I use to say if I could only make a difference in one childs life, then I've done what I was put on this earth to do. But no.. one is not enough.. I really can't stop till all of them are off of retilin. So I have a very long, very hard and impossible battle on my hands.. The more people become educated.. maybe the more they will prusue this fight. Who knows.. I just know what I have to do.

You may have read this and thought 'bunk' or yeah. what is he selling....

Let me ask you a question? Do you know any children on retilin? Have you ever really watched them .... live?.... They just sit there.. sometimes they rock back an fourth.. sometimes they just sit still an stare...

Kevin told me he was horrified of the cocktail meds.. He told me he wanted to kill the doctors that put him on them and kill anyone that was involved with making him take them.. (including his parents...) He said the meds caused him to be paronoid and confused and hateful and mean and want to hurt people. When he would try to stop taking them.. he try to kill himself. He said it was as if he was not really here, it was someone else and he was inside of him or it... and he wanted out but no one would listen.

So, please, for Gods sake, and the sake of your child.. do not ever put them on these drugs.

Yes, it may be a easy way out for you or the school district.. but basically.. it is a fast ticket to hell for that child.

A friend of mine had problems with her son, everyone wanted him on Ritalin, but she had worked as a personal carer in group homes, and had seen many young adults who had spent years on it - reckoned they were all brain damaged as a result.

I have known her to be 100% correct in picking kids on it, and adults that have been on it, just by the differences in their behaviour from unmedicated people.

She always said her son's problems were a result of his father having walked out when he was 8 and never contacting them again - I always felt there was additional damage from their vegetarian diet and all the soy, but I guess that's just my opinion. Since showing her some info on soy, she has at least cut out all unfermented soy from their diet

There is so much that can be done with supplements and diet for ADHD, schizophrenia, depression etc - it is sooo depressing that the mainstream media will not help get the info out in the public arena. Just sometimes you think there would be a chance of journos bucking the system and getting away with it...

My favourite cousin was a brilliant doctor who became addicted to prescription mood altering drugs and OD'ed - shattered his family.

Actually 4dharma, you are so correct.

Baylor University students participated in a major project. They studied a lake around the Dallas/Ft.Worth area to see why the fish were so lifeless. It was well known that the fish would just lay on the bottom of the lake and watch as food, or in this case, bait, was presented to them, right in front of them and the fish would just watch it go by.

This was a very lengthy study. They used nets and scooped up some of the fish, randomly, and analyzed them... autopsy style...

Suprise? Well guess what they found? These fish were so doped up from Prozac, Zolof, Welbutrin, adderol, and other drugs that they were actually... STONED out of their minds...

This lake is one that the Sewage plants feeds to an from. So. there are so many people that pee out these awful drugs that it effects an entire lake?

This is an actual study done at Baylor.

It was said the water is filtered so that no bad germs, virus or bacteria would be cycled into the lake. I guess they forgot to filter out the drugs....

Can't you just see it.. Big ol Billy Bass, just layin there.. a big ol crawfish sasheys across the face of him and he turns to his friend and says.."Wow dude... did ya see that... Kinda looked like Willie Nelson."

Yep..4dharma... you are correct....

Great job, Pepawbear! It's about time somebody tells it like it is, in clear language that everybody understands.
For adults, taking these mind-altering drugs is - well, let me put it politely - a little dumb. To give them to your kids is an abomination. It may not legally be a crime, but it should be one.
