Thumbs up Drew Carey Cures His Own Diabetes

Drew Carey loses 80 pounds and cures his own diabetes

by Ethan A. Huff, staff writer

(NaturalNews) In a recent People article, celebrity actor and host of The Price is Right Drew Carey shares about how he has shed 80 pounds -- and counting -- and cured his own diabetes by following a strict diet of no carbohydrates and getting plenty of exercise.

The 52-year-old former host of The Drew Carey Show explained to reporters that he got tired of being fat and seeing himself on camera. So he embarked on a plan to cut the junk from his diet and begin a daily exercise routine. After losing nearly 80 pounds in about six months, Carey also cured himself of his type-2 diabetes.

"I'm not diabetic anymore. No medication needed," he explained.

By sticking primarily to egg whites, yogurt, fruit, lean meats and water, Carey was able to drop from a size 44 pants to a 33-34.

"I have cheated a couple times, but basically no carbs, not even a cracker. No bread at all. No pizza, nothing. No corn, no beans, no starches of any kind," he said.

Carey also maintained a cardio workout routine consisting of at least 45 minutes of exercise a day to get him where he is currently, and he plans to keep it up to get to a size 32 pants.

Carey's success story is an amazing testimony to the power of healthy eating and exercise in curing disease and maintaining good health. Rather than rely on pharmaceutical drugs like many do, Carey has raised the bar and set a good example for the public of how to achieve true health.

He may like to think that he is cured but unfortuanately he is not.
He should be able to eat a couple (2 to 3) servings of carbs in the form of grain, beans or pasta without having diabetic symptoms. When he can do this without a significant spike in bloodsugar levels they he is cured.

It's wonderful when a celebrity can set a good example. Imagine how many millions of people tune him in during the week..

When he gets rid of the rest of the yeast, then he will be cured.

As long as he keeps the excess weight off and continues to exercise on a daily basis he will not show diabetes symptoms. However, if he goes back to his old lifestyle, his diabetes issues will return.

He should eat his complex carbs with fibre. That will buffer the sugar spikes.

I think Dr. William Davis has a solid perspective on this topic:

Dr Whitaker has done a lot of work in curing diabetes also.

Diabetes is the bread and butter of the pharmaceutial industry and many doctors and nurses as well. They like you to be long lived and ill to keep them busy and money pouring in.

The good news about type 2 diabetes is that it can managed in the vast majority of cases with an appropriate diet and exercise regimen - even without supplements, though they're valuable additions in many instances. Stress management helps as well re: lowering of serum cortisol.

This means that almost any person that wants to avoid medication can. *If* they're determined enough. This is an excellent illustration of the patient empowerment, IMO.

Dr. Richard Bernstein is another excellent resource for anyone with diabetes and metabolic syndrome.

Exclamation

I noticed Drew on Price is Right last week. Though his body looks great/thinner, his face
looks like he's aged 10+ years. I've seen this happen to many others who have lost a lot of weight.

I agree EarlyBird, the fat fills out the wrinkles in the facial and neck area, so the chubbier face looks younger. Sometimes when the weight is lost, there's also excess skin hanging, and jowles appear.

I just hope he keeps his natural born looks, and doesn't start with that face-lift/plastic surgery/botox business! There's so many pople who looked MUCH better before all those surgeries. Kenny Rogers, Priscilla Presley, Joan Rivers, etc., etc., etc. I'd rather look like myself, than a younger freaky 'somebody else'.

Don't they always say, after a certain age you have to choose bum or face??

After a big weighht loss there is always all that loose skin to deal with as well...
