Tidal wave warnings for chile, Hawaii, Pacific Rim, Australia, New Zealand.
a 131 foot wave hit Juan Fernandaz Island -
40 quakes have followed.

Warn people to seek high ground in these areas.

A massive quake struck Chile early Saturday,
shaking the capital of Santiago, bringing down
buildings and setting off a tsunami.
At least 47 were killed with the toll rising.

Huge quake hits Chile

Tsunami warnings were issued over a wide area, including Hawaii, South America, Australia and New Zealand, Japan, the Philippines, Russia and many Pacific islands.

NBC station KNHL reported that the first tsunami wave was expected to reach Hawaii's coastline at 11:19 a.m. local time (4:19 p.m. ET). It warned that "urgent action should be taken to protect lives and property."

Giant wave
Reuters reported that a tsunami caused by the quake caused "serious damage" to Chile's sparsely populated Juan Fern�ndez Islands. Citing local police, CNN reported that the islands had been hit by a 40-meter (131 foot) wave.

Unhappy Chilean Earthquake

Fortunately tsunami waves have been light and have had little effect on
other areas. But after shocks in Chile are still frequent and frightening.
Reports say they could continue to have aftershocks for a month. HORRORs!
