Default EarthQuakes Swarm at Yellowstone

Earthquakes Still Swarm Yellowstone Supervolcano Caldera - Capital Commerce (usnews.com)

The University of Utah Seismograph Stations reports that a notable swarm of earthquakes has been underway since December 26 beneath Yellowstone Lake in Yellowstone National Park, three to six miles south-southeast of Fishing Bridge, Wyoming. This energetic sequence of events was most intense on December 27, when the largest number of events of magnitude 3 and larger occurred.

The largest of the earthquakes was a magnitude 3.9 (revised from magnitude 3.8) at 10:15 pm MST on Dec. 27. The sequence has included nine events of magnitude 3 to 3.9 and approximately 24 of magnitude 2 to 3 at the time of this release. A total of more than 250 events large enough to be located have occurred in this swarm. Reliable depths of the larger events are up to a few miles. Visitors and National Park Service (NPS) employees in the Yellowstone Lake area reported feeling the largest of these earthquakes.

Yellow stone has anyways been known as a hot bed of volcanic activity.
If it were to do a major eruption it has the potential to drastically change the US and the world.
But A Gore won’t allow that to happen because he would slap a punitive carbon tax on it.

200 miles! I assume that the MSM is right on top of this story.

I will second that. Yellowstone could definitely be an interesting place to visit. But right now might not be the best time.

You don't suppose this big bang will happen before the swearing in of Obama do you? If you see anyone packing dynamite in the area call 9-11. We haven't had that National emergency yet.

This could very well be for real, but I got the impression from the videos that the narrators enjoy spreading fear and one in particular was too obvious...I could only stand him for about 60 seconds.

For over a year after Mount St. Helens burped last time, I used to watch the earthquake report daily because my daughter and grandkids live about 5 or ten miles from the mountain. Granted the ones over 3 mag. were few and far between, but about two or three times a month there would usually be a strong one. The Yellowstone ones are slightly stronger over all but I don't see them as really alarming. The pictures of the lava are alarming, but that's a simulation or another place, I believe.

I get earthquake notices by email for most of the world. Yesterday there were three bad ones in Indonesia and my reports said M 7.8, M 7.5 and
M 6.0. Now that's something to worry about, and yet I had to really hunt to find the little link for this article....never did see anything about Yellowstone.

i've been following this topic on another forum. I'm not high tech and have a hard time talking about this stuff but what they are saying today is that a lot of info has been pulled from some sites and monitoring sites that usually monitor are not at this time. So whats up with that? During unusual activity shutting down volcanic and earthquake monitoring sites?

Don't know what they, "the big watchers" are doing but some little watchers are getting highly critical of this behavior!

Has there been any news about this one today? Was it really an earthquake, or the ground shaking?
