Default Folks from England, I need a conversion

I have been watching a TV show on the bbc channel...The show is "You are what you eat" Its only fairly interesting, but I need help with the conversion table.... They talk about how much people weigh, and how much they lose.. but they say stones, not pounds.... Does anyone know (Xania?) How many american pounds are in a british stone?

Also, they made a sausage out of pecans and hemp seeds... can hemp seeds be bought in the states

Hi Just me!
Sorry to miss you - I was working, but Iggy gave a good reply.

Fourteen pounds is one stone, but I am honestly not certain that your pound is the same as our pound. We have 16 ounces to a pound.
But then again, as we have gone metric for many years now, and I can't be bothered to change from pounds, ounces, inches and miles - what do I know! I am still struggling with your cooking measures. How one earth do you manage to put butter in half a cup and know what amount that is! Coffee cup, breakfast cup, tea cup?
See, we don't speak the same language!
