Default Tea Consumption and Leukemia

Quote:
In a study involving 252 subjects with leukemia and 637 controls, green tea consumption was found to be inversely associated with leukemia among subjects between the ages of 16 and 29 years.

Furthermore, the adjusted odds ratio was 0.47 for subjects consuming more green tea (> 550 units of catechins), as compared to those not consuming tea. No such association was found in children below 16 years of age.

The authors conclude, "Drinking sufficient amounts of tea, especially green tea, which contains more catechins than oolong tea and black tea, may reduce the risk of leukemia."

Harry, the green tea man! (you and Iggy must belong to the same green tea fan club! )

Have you ever tried matcha? it is a green tea powder. It is very delicious.. a very smooth green taste.

the thing is, if someone is not a big green tea drinker, they can add this to other things, like smoothies. It is more expensive, but you can keep it a long time, and a little goes a long way. I think of it as a treat.

Next time you eat at a Japanese restaurant, try the green tea ice cream.. so good!

ST,

I still haven't tried it. This morning, I stopped at a local coffee house. I saw that they had matcha tea on the menu. Unfortunately, they also had iced Americano on the menu.

Guess which one won out?

sometimes they will say "matcha tea" and what they mean is they put a little green powder in a green tea bag. not the same.

ask.. and if it is just the powder, try it sometime when you can resist your americano.
