That sounds like another anti-aging nutrient in red wine,Resveratrol. Perhaps we will be hearing in future about Res-BEER-atrol.

I wonder if it really means silica, the dioxide form of silicon. Silica is safer - I think. One can get the same benefit from diatomaceous Earth, but not as much fun a beer. Silica is present in the fiber of plants (vegetable).

Silica (SiO2) is an oxide of silicon, and is present in almost all minerals. It is found in surface and well water in the range of 1 - 100 mg/l. Silica in water is considered to be colloidal in nature because of the way it reacts with adsorbents. A colloid is a gelatinous substance made up of non-diffusible particles that remain suspended in a fluid medium. Silica is objectionable in cooling tower makeup and boiler feed water. Silica evaporates in a boiler at high temperatures and then re-deposits on the turbine blades. These deposits must be periodically removed or damage to the turbine will occur. Silica is not listed in the Primary or the Secondary Drinking Water Standards issued by the US EPA. Furthermore A study which followed subjects for 15 years found the effects of silica in water appeared to decrease the risk of dementia. The study found that for every 10 milligram-per-day intake of silica in drinking water, the risk of dementia dropped by 11%.

A San Franciscan centurion was once asked her key to longevity. She said that she took Ex-Lax every day. That was when Ex-Lax was a chemical instead of senna.

Had a great uncle who passed away at 87. He was a type 1 diabetic. The key: they lived on 3 acres and had an acre garden. Olive oil on everything!

I respect and envy people that feel younger than their age. I also love to hear about how people use to eat and thrive. Seems like bone broth and raw milk is a theme to longevity. Weston Price found that those cultures that ate animal products both cooked and raw were the healthiest. Vegetarains didn't fare so well. They had more tooth decay because they lacked fat soluble vit. A,D,E & K.
