Question Breaks and Dislocation in lumbar spine

Hello, I'm 20 years old and am suffering from 2 breaks in my lumbar 5 and because of the breaks my L5 has shifted forward between 3-5mm. I am in tremendous pain and currently can't walk without the assistance of a cane and even then, its very difficult. I am currently seeing a spine specialist who has referred me to a spine surgeon. Right now I am waiting to have a MIS TLIF (Minimally Invasive Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion done to repair the breaks and realign my spine. Since this injury is work related, the approval of the surgery has to go through Workers Compensation. I have been dealing with this injury for close to a year now. I am only getting worse and quickly. Has anyone had this type of surgery? Can anyone give me words of encouragement or possible things i can do to get some pain relief? I am currently taking Neurontin and Flexeril. I was on Percocet but it gave me horrible migraines and did nothing for the pain. Im in the process of having Morphine Sulfate approved through WC.
Thank you all for your time in reading this.

I can give you encouragement in knowing that spinal surgery is light years ahead of what it was 25 years ago. Be sure you have the very best surgeon that you can find, even if you must travel for the surgery. this is no time for inexperience.

For pain I recommend the following.

Massage therapy if you can tolerate it.

Vitamin B12 injections of methylcobalamine even if your levels say that you are not deficient. This vitamin heals nerves, you can do this before and after surgery. You will need a prescription for it. Just demand it from your doctor. He will think you are a nut.

Alpha Lipoic Acid 600mg a day with Acetyl L carnitine 500mg per day.

A B 100 tablet daily. Vitamin C at least 1000mg per day.

Topical appliations of Dr Christophers Cayenne Heat Ointment along with applications mixed with Dr Christophers Complete Bone and Tissue Ointment.
Take Complete Bone and Tissue Repair oral pills preparation as soon as the surgery is done. Do not put the cayenne rub on a surgical wound until it is closed as it will burn but you can use the other topically on a suture line.

Get a bottle of homoepathic symphutum in 200c potency and take one to 3 times a day starting as soon as you can after surgery. This will speed the healing of the bone and reduce pain. When pain starts to reoccur take another dose. Some people prefere this over narcotics.

Get physical therapy after the surgery and stick with it.

You may benefit by spinal decompression which is really more in the arena of a chiropractor. It is a table they put you on with a brace about your pelivic or torso area so secure you that gently streches the spine to alleviate pressure off the disks. (not sure if I am describing this accurately) I have had it done. There is a system that suspends you to take weight off your feet and you walk on a tread mill. The therapy comes by walking with reduced weight on the spine. I prefer the table system better. More and more docs are getting into it. I have a home device that is designed for the neck decompression.

Docs may be hesitant until after surgery for this but if pain persists after a time when they think it should be gone a TENS unit can be helpful for some people, but I bet you will be just fine after you heal up.

Its not scheduled Workers Comp needs to approve it first and they are doing everything to keep that from happening.
