\nThey are coming forward now because they have to, to try to save face. Lets just wait and see if they try to have fluoride removed from toothpaste... I would be willing to bet they don\'t.\r\n

\r\n \r\n Actually if you go and READ the CDC article they do not recommend the removal of flouride from the water..they merely warn that mixing flurodated water with flurodated infant formula may casue fluorosis.

\r\n \r\n Fluoride is beneficial to dental health. But the sort of fluoride that is good for teeth is calcium fluoride. The stuff that is added to drinking water and toothpase is sodium fluoride. Something entirely different.
\nBack in the 30\'s sodium fluoride was used commercially as a rat poison...

\nEven though calcium fluoride is good for dental health I can\'t see any justification even for adding that to drinking water. (It is naturally present in water anyway.)
\nWhy add anything? Mother Nature has spent the last billion years getting it right!\r\n

Quite right! It is one thing to add chlorine or chlorine dioxide to drinking water, but there is no safety benefit to fluorine. This is the government imposing health rules upon us. Like forcing insurance companies to provide specific health coverage, like contraception, or vaccines, whether we want to pay for it or not.\r\n

\r\n \r\n I haven\'t used fluoride in years. I wish I had said no when the dentist gave treatments to my young daughter - I blame her Hashimoto\'s on those. I do. And the xrays they took.\r\n

A new study in the Journal of the American Dental Association finds once again that, contrary to what most people have been told, fluoride is actually bad for teeth. Exposure to high levels of fluoride results in a condition known as fluorosis, in which tooth enamel becomes discolored. The condition can eventually lead to badly damaged teeth. The new study found that fluoride intake during a child's first few years of life is significantly associated with fluorosis, and warned against using fluoridated water in infant formula.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is of a similar opinion. According to their website:

"Recent evidence suggests that mixing powdered or liquid infant formula concentrate with fluoridated water on a regular basis may increase the chance of a child developing ... enamel fluorosis."
