What I do is take a clump of aloe vera gel and cut open a 200 IU vit e capsule and squeeze it into the gel and mix it to disperse it throughout the gel and then use that. Works great.
we have always just put a cup of vinegar in a lukewarm to cool tub and soaked in the tub for awhile.... takes the sting out very well! Vinegar is also a great hair conditioner, takes all the tangles out... I put about a fourth of a cup of vinegar into a plastic sourcream container ( probably the quart size) then fill the container with warm water....and rinse my hair..works great!! I wouldnt be without my vinegar
Some people add Calendula tincture to a base cream like cocoa butter for its anti-inflammatory properties, also repairs tissues. Tea tree oil mixed with olive or coconut oil is said to be soothing and reduce blistering and peeling. Arnica cream mixed with cocoa butter can also be used. I've always used some type of cocoa butter cream on sunburn, but now I just try to avoid getting burned, haven't had that problem in years.
If you can Id even advise waiting more than two days. I recently got burnt and applied evco the next day. It definately slowed the healing process down and didnt really help with the stinging or redness.
It really is about Aloe Vera. It always works and you wont peel. Just apply the gel 2-3 times a day for two days and youll be fine..

we're going to the beach for about a week and i'm thinking about making my own sunscreen by mixing some zinc oxide, aloe vera (gel?), coconut oil, maybe some cocao butter, and some beeswax (to make it waterproof?),
Wasn't it Ted who has posted articles about Vitamin D helping block sunburn.... Seems like I remember if your Vitamin D levels are where they are suppose to be, then you wont burn as easily...Find Ted, He will remember!!!! Long sleeve light weight shirts, hats, umbrellas are all good choices also
