I have to disagree with you shapshftr. There is a big difference between whole grain foods and processed foods. Cheeses cause a lot of damaging mucus and red meat is hard for our bodies to process. You could get more protein, good fats, and nutrients from better sources like nuts and seeds like chia. Chia products like MILA can also help turn simple sugars into complex carbs. You should also look into a specific liver/gall detox. It has helped my father tremendously! I would bet money that yours are toxic. Those two organs have just as much to do with diabetes as your pancreas does. If you're not processing your food and blood correctly you put the entire load on the pancreas.

Its like trying to use the same old oil and filter in your car and putting an additive in expecting it to change the situation...
