Default Skin Cleanser for Acne and Blackheads?

With all the skin cleaning products being marketed to adolescents for acne and general skin care, I am wondering if members of this forum have any recommendations? Are some better than others? What distinguishes one from another? What should I look for in judging these products?

I am also wondering how they work. I mean, assuming you wash your face twice a day with plain old soap and water, what more do these products do? If your skin is clean, it is clean. I assume the oil has been washed away. And same for any dirt, etc. that may plug pores and cause pimples and blackheads. So what do these skin cleansing products do to prevent acne and pimples that simple washing does not?

I never had acne, just a few pimples/blackheads here and there, so I have no experience with acne products or their ingredients, but here's some info on the common ingredients used here:

I think that using just plain soap and water doesn't thoroughly clean the skin, and a film can be left on the face to block the pores. The products for acne help to kill bacteria, unclog pores and perhaps exfoliate the skin.

I personally would try to find a remedy for my acne from more natural products. Tea Tree Oil is said to be good for treating acne, but it is very strong. There are some gels with Tea Tree Oil available at health food/vitamin stores. Manuka Honey is also said to be good for acne and the healing of the skin, and killing the bacteria, although it is expensive.

Another thing you can use is lemon juice, juice from fresh lemons is preferred, or organic lemon juice. But if you only have access to Real Lemon, then that will do. The lemon will help clean, and dry the oils.

Many times acne can be treated with a change of diet. You can eliminate sugar/fructose, grains and greasy fatty foods for a month, and see if there's improvement. Also, taking a natural vitamin E (D-Alpha, not DL), a good omega 3 fish oil, and probiotics will help.

You can add sea salt to a gentle face cleanser as an exfoliator.

PS: I just added a thread on natural ways to treat blackheads...https://www.natmedtalk.com/showthread...532#post215532
