I just use a safety pin or large sewing needle and prick it, then squeeze out the contents.

What sort of oil based vitamin capsules are they may I ask? Every chance you'd be able to buy whatever they are in bottled liquid form and save yourself a lot of time and expense...

[If it is a hot meal you're giving him, you could probably get the capsule to melt and release their contents just by placing them on top (of the hot food)]

I'm sure some of my American friends here can suggest some cheaper alternatives. i-herb?

It should still work out cheaper as bottled liquid than capsules even so.

What about gummy vitamins with DHA? Fruit flavor or Strawberry? No artificial flavors, fillers or preservatives.

Flax Seed

I mentioned the seed and its oil a few times, and, after being initially supportive of flax consumption, I now recommend minimizing intake. People generally use flax oil as an Omega-3 supplement, rather than for cooking – and this is a good choice, seeing as how flax is almost entirely made of PUFAs, which are prone to rancidity and oxidation when exposed to heat. Meat eaters, though, would be better off just taking fish oil. The DHA and EPA in fish oil are far more useful than the ALA in flax seed oil. Strict vegetarians, have at it – just don’t use flax seed oil to sautee your tofu.
19% MUFA
24% Omega-6 PUFA
47% Omega-3 PUFA (from ALA)
8-9% SFA

Costco also sells bags of organic flax seed at a good price.

I do that for my dogs sometimes; bust the capsule over their food. I eat the capsule because I loathe waste. Can make exact dosing tricky, but it does kill the waste.

I beware eating too much flax. High in phytoestrogens. OK for women.
