Default Phytochemicals

Phytochemicals are natural anti-oxidants found in fruits, vegetables, and other plants. Thousands of different types exists, some groups of phytochemicals include; terpenes, indoles, flavones, isoflavones, polyphenols, flavanoids, carotenoids and more.

Many of these have been found to reduce the risk of disease as well as cancer rates.

It's good to be reminded! Especially when processed & fast foods are the norm for today's children.

If I might add, the skin on fruits are often peeled, but should be left intact. The skin contains many phytochemicals as well.

I read a book some years ago that said that some of the substances in plants stop cancer from starting, some slow the growth down if it's already started, some stop the growth, some kill the cancer. And that the substances do the same thing for the plant when they are attacked by insects or fungi or disease. A reason to eat a variety, too.
