Question What is acupressure therapy and how it can be treated at home?

Dear all. Can someone please explain me in a simple way, without complicated terminology what is acupressure and how I can practice it at home? I have heard some good words about this therapy and want to try it. I do not have much spare finances to go to the specialist, so I will be appreciate if you can suggest me any other way, how I can do it at home by my self. Thank you to all replies in advance. :-)

acupressure is simplely the deep massage and pressure on the acupuncture points located all over the body. The simple rule of them is that if the point hurts with pressure that point needs attention. It stimulates the meridians to open the energy and circulate it. These meridians are associated with organs and their functions.

Some say acupressure can be just as profound as acupuncture but I have yet to experience that. I new someone who had a terrible motorcycle accident and the surgery to set and pin his leg did not go well due to problems with anestesia. They went back to surgery a couple of days later and controlled the pain with acupuncture only and it was a success. Haven't seen anything like that with acupressure.

If you do some searches you should be able to find some charts to help you locate points. Many people specialize in the points of the feet but points anywhere can be done by accupressure massage

There are several forms of acupressure therapy

I have been trained in Shiatsu massage. You should be able to find other videos on youtube

So it means, that some sort of spike, will actually stimulate my skin. But what to do, if I have a very sensitive skin, and not all materials have a positive side-effect, while reaction with my body. Is there any solution for me to use these acupressure mats and techniques, or it means that there is no allergy-free acupressure tools and I cannot use it?

Spike? We're not talking about self torture here. Whats wrong with your fingers. Sometimes I use a rounded smooth crystal or my elbow. Do a search on acupressure. You will learn a lot.

Thank you for your reply. I was talking about spikes, because I thought about acupressure mat, when I was writing my previous reply. I heard, that acupressure mats are used to stimulate inner points of our body, which is very healthy and easy to use. I am planning to try something like this.. I have never tried it before, so that is why I am trying to find out more information here, before do and buy it :-) As I said before I have sensitive skin, and I do not want to buy anything synthetic and non-natural, therefore I am wondering if there are any solutions for me to buy ecologically clean acupressure mat, made of purely natural materials?
