Mad cow disease and its human equivalent is now known. After scaring everyone and killing thousands of cattle because they though it was caused by a prion.
Now they know it was an essential mineral deficiency of copper.
Doctors don't want to talk about essential minerals. One reason the have no idea about nutrition and the second it is not a drug

Interesting. One theory was that it was a variation on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creutzfeldt–Jakob_disease due to the gathering of human remains (bones) on the Ganges River that were then recycled for animal feed.

More info on copper; https://www.health-science-spirit.com/copper.html

Prion diseases such as Creutzfeldt-Jakob or "mad cow" disease, and also Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease are related to the accumulation of wrongly folded and entangled prion proteins. It has now been shown that this may be due to a copper deficiency in the brain, and that copper stabilises prions and helps them to fold correctly (7).
