2010 Census

Does anyone know which questions must be answered on the 2010 Census? I wonder why they need to know things like your exact date of birth, telephone number, race? I think it's an invasion of privacy and all they need to know is the number of people living at the residence.

I could see letting them know how many people, their sex and age only.

According to the constitution the only thing that you are required to tell the census taker is the number of people living in your home. Period! Of course they my then threaten you with all sorts of legal action.

As I understand it there are two sets of questions, a short form and a long form. Most will get the short form. For those lucky ones that get the long form they will be asked questions like:

How many toilets do you have and are they low flush?
Do you own any stock? If so how much?
What is you yearly income?
What time do you usually leave for work? (yes that is a real question)

I believe the real goal here is to train you to answer any question that our master might ask without first even questioning the question.

They want to know most of the stuff to get an idea of how the people live
what are the short comings in different areas economically
how crowded living conditions are
to get a general idea of welfare needs for a specific area
how many illegal aliens are here
they run a ton of statisical analysis on the info.
but mostly they want to be able to predict the population into the future
for economic reasons
also the count may reflect the states delegates as well as
where voting districts draw the lines

I agree, and like I said count of persons per household, age and gender should be enough information for their purposes. What I have a problem with is exact date of birth, telephone number and race, really...I'm not buying that all that extra personal information is truly necessary.

Local and National TV channel instructions have stated that "All questions must be answered or you will receive a visit from a Census enumerator." At $13+ for
Enumerators to $16+ per hour for Area Supervisors, you will save the Government
actually the US taxpayer, big bucks by filling your form out in full.
The information IS used for statistics of all sorts - ONLY.
The AGE question is needed for future SS and Medicare purposes/needs, schools
needed, etc..
You actually draw No attention to your self/household by filling out the whole form
completely.

Right just like your SS number was never to be used for anything but SS.

I have no doubt that some of this information could have a beneficial use.

But the point is according to the constitution using the census to collect it and demand that you answer is illegal.

Unfortunately with our current politicians and our current form of government what the constitution actually calls for is of little or no concern.
