Default Lavender essential oil won't calm my kids

I am trying to calm my kids down and someone recommended using Lavender essential oil. I put couple drops of this oil on the soles of the kids feet and so far I am not seeing any effects. Is there any other natural remedies I can try to calm them down a bit.

I don't know what sort of diets your kids are eating, but you may want to try reducing the amount of processed sugar in it and removing artificial sweeteners, dyes and preservatives completely. I have some really good links on the connection between refined sugar, artificial food additives and hyperactivity, but I can't seem to find them at the moment. I will look for them in more depth later and get back to you.

It is always better to make a permanent change and remove what is causing the problem than to just try to cover it up with a magic bullet solution. Lavender oil or similar things may help for a short time, but you would need to be continually applying them or their effectiveness would wear off.

Hi,
Thanks for your tips. I don't have any sweets at home. The only sweet food they eat is agave oil or honey with the gluten free waffles they like and yogurt.
At school they will occasionally get pudding or oreo cookies for snacks. If you find the links I would like to read about them.

I still haven't gotten around to searching my files, but if you go to this thread and read posts #9 and #12 they have some good information on the subject. The rest of the thread is about a different topic, but is still very important information if you feel like perusing it.

I highly recommend going to and reading all of the links in post #12 (the ones at the very bottom about hypoglycemia are broken) and listening to the retired neurosurgeon Dr. Blaylock's lecture. Very few of the links are about hyperactivity per se, but they all tie into it by showing the myriad effects of poor nutrition and consuming toxic substances.

This is a good link that lists many studies showing the connection between food additives and hyperactivity + ADHD-like symptoms. If you choose to go through all of the studies listed in this link there will be no doubt in your mind whatsoever about the harmful and behavior-altering effects of many common food additives.

What specifically is the issue you are having with your children?

I may not be much help in this regard because I am not very well versed in such areas (my expertise is in curing disease and restoring radiant health), but hopefully others on here can help you with this problem if I cannot. Have you tried just letting them play outside more and letting them wear themselves out?

Thanks. I will check out the threads you mentioned. I am new to this forum and haven't had the chance to look around here yet.
My 3 boys never slow down even if they play outside all they long. My oldest is hyper and bothers his little brothers a lot. We eat all organic and as natural food as possible. We have no sweets at home and don't watch TV (TV is stored in the garage). Sometimes we show them kids shows on the computer as a reward but mostly I don't want them to watch mindless cartoons.

Sugar is hard to control fruit juices even when they say no sugar add still have sugar your body will turn starches into sugar. So just elimination sugar you add might not be enough. 100 years ago the average person used 1lb sugar per year now ??? You can get a blood sugar test machine fairly cheap and see just how much sugar they have also do a six hour test to find out how they control their sugar.
One other thing is check for food allergies. Dr. Doris Rapp

This can be a real eye opener. If you think this is possible there is a pulse test to find the allergies

We stay away from store bought juices. I have a juicer and make our own juice from time to time. We have done the environmental and food allergy tests. He is only allergic to mold but we don't have mold in our house.

We are quite similar: good wholesome food, lots of sport and outdoor activities. My youngest has a lot of anxiety, and finds it hard to self sooth. I put her in a bath with epsom salts, plus lavender oil, cedarwood oil and frankincense oil. It works really well! It comes in a mixed blend called "Calming" by Oil Garden Aromatherapy. It doesn't make her sleepy, but calm, and serene.

Aroma oils should be used very carefully with children, if child is less then 3 you should avoid it at all, their nasal system is not quite ready yet for this.
Be happy that your kids are active, even if they are super active, it's great! It means that they are healthy. Just try to cut out computer as much as possible, and let them play outside,on a fresh air, arrange some trip, or just send them to the camp)))
The more enegry they spend during day, the better sleep there would be at night
